I have to say I've been massively impressed by him this season so far, he has been a massive miss for us when out injured. I thought he was excellent yesterday, he was excellent at Villa and his level of performance seems to have taken a step up. He seems to be irradacating his lunging tackles as he knows the implication. He is always going to get yellows and suspensions due to the type of player he is but so far so good this season for me. (I know he had the sending off in the cup which cost us in the league)

At the same time Johnson is now finding his feet and his class is there for all to see, 2 assists yesterday, unlucky not to score, keeper made a great save.

Add to this Mingolet who was given MOM yesterday by Sky. Did everything right, is producing top draw saves on a regular basis, he is getting better on corners and set peices. Think we have a top top keeper for years to come (although the big boys must be watching him).

Fletcher, well he just takes his chances so well, his first goal was pure class. Took a great pass with a sublime first touch and then ac ool as ice finish! Marvelous.

However before I get accused of being a happy clapper again, There were still issues. However away from home against a very good footballing side like Fulham we easily held our own for the first 20 mins, we were steady and then the sending off. If you work hard and keep it tight away from home first half you always have a chance and that is exaclty what we did.

Onto West Brom, going to be a tough game, Last year we were two down in five minutes. My big worry for this game is the pace of their forwards and the lack of pace at the heart of our defence. O'shea and Cuellar cannot be exposed or we will be punnished. I think it will be 4-5-1 agian and that's what I would go with. West Brom can score goals so I think we are going to need a couple at least. No walk over here but winnable if we get it right. :bandit:

It won't happen but id go Bramble for Cuellar against WBA. Bramble is quicker and stronger than Oshea and would deal with Long better imo.

If fit id put Gardner in middle with Cattermole and bring McClean in for Larrson

Really??? Don't disagree with the rest - Cuallar was 4 yards behind the rest of the defence for the Fulham goal yesterday - otherwise Duff would've been 4 yards offside (which everyone in our side expected - except Cuellar - his positioning was awful) - I wouldn't put McClean in for anyone - he looked no better yesterday after coming off the bench than he has all season - Larsson was sucked inside due to Colbacks inefficiency IMO as without Larsson in there Cattermole would've been on his own.

Catts was excellent AGAIN - IMO the most consistent player in that position in the league this season. - sad that Jonjo ****ing Shelvey gets an England call up but Cattermole doesn't!!

He's looking more like the player he was when he first arrived. His yellow card was harsh and he appears to be controlling that reckless streak at last. The lad is a born leade, a great skipper and could soon book his place as the player of season if his form continues. I've also noticed his delivery has really improved - don't remember him giving ball away much yesterday.

I was really impressed to see cattermole bomb forward a few times yesterday, obv I don't want him there all the time but 2/3 times he went for it on the break, especially in the build up to sessegnon goal, still believe him and gardener are the best pair in the middle

Cattermole is your best player, always said that (except when Richardson was about, I thought he was your best player when played AM).

Catts has been excellent, apart from the lunge that got him banned. But then loads of other players have done daft things, quite a few of them this weekend.

I'm just glad to see AJ and Sess working their way back into form and Fletch is one of the best finishers I've seen in a SAFC shirt, based on his ten Prem games so far.

Did the same against Villa - got into the box a couple of times and on another day that shot he had against the Villa would've nestled in the corner!
His distribution has improved massively and he is becoming a very good footballer. He's already 10 times the player Shelvey is but I can't understand why he gets no recognition when players like him are in the England setup

I'm a massive fan of Lee. We are a far better team with him and a far worse one without him.

Top lad and ultimate competitor. Hopefully if will be here for many more years to come.

    Captain, heartbeat, leader.

I love the fact other clubs fans STILL don't see it, STILL go off history & STILL wait for him to make a bad tackle to say 'see, look, he's aaaaawful'.

He ****ing isn't, he is a superb DM, he is constantly applauding and geeing up the lads, the man has been superb this season.

Anyone see him proper giving Sess a rally as we waited for kick off second half? Proper captain.

    Long may it continue.

Couldn't agree more mate. His rallying call after we scored our second (could have been the third but i was half cut by then) all the players were celebrating in the huddle and he was having a right captains speech going on. Only young-ish is getting better each game and is by far our best outfield player this season IMHO.

As for Shelvey; he is ****e but as Hodgson has a Liverpool love in he will be picked ahead of Cattermole all of the time

What's that meant to mean? I rate Cattermole very highly, nothing wrong with that.

Very fair shout young man, I agree with you actually, great keeper.

I have to say he's been absolutely fantastic this season. I wasn't his biggest fan in the past (wasn't one of the ones who wanted rid but close), but **** me has he improved in recent times. What has particularly impressed me has been his vision and range of passing, it has come on leaps and bounds. He used to just be, make a crunching tackle, pass it sideways, now he's added so much more to his game it's amazing. Anyone see the cheeky little cruyff turn he did in the centre circle yesterday when he ran into trouble as well?

Haha well being a young guy from Norfolk on a ****e wage it's impossible for me to get to the SOL, so I usually have to make do with some dodgy stream where I can't make out **** all... Having said that, I'm buzzing for the 2nd and will be oleing as loud as anyone else!!

Only time I have felt like lacing into fellow Mackems, was the times Catts would have a brilliant game.
Got an unwarranted card and people calling him a liability and ****e, all aided by **** refereeing.

Piss boiling doesn't even come close.
I started to think I was really watching a different game to the Catts haters.

But on watching the whole game again I could smirk quietly to myself, as I was once again proved right and my infallible football knowledge was intact. :p

The guy could become a legend at our great club.
I also think we could have another Steve Bruce situation.
Now that's got a couple of you thinking WTF?

Steve Bruce was one hell of a defender and attacking force at corners in his pomp at Man U and was disgracefully overlooked by his country.

Give me the choice of a half fit Catts over that ****ing plank Carrick (One good pass in a 100 and has commentators creaming themselves.) for England and Catts would still be first choice.

<applause> Think you and I have been singing from this hymn sheet for some time MR!! Catts, IMO, is the most consistent player in his position this season bar no-one - hasn't had a bad game yet - his red, when compared to 3 challenges I saw on him prior to the inceident, was a joke - his yellow at the weekend was for nothing but "being Lee Cattermole" (oh and getting pushed in the chest by Berbatov!)

Keeping this up will only get him recognition and he is the first name on the team sheet for me - starting to get much more involved going forward and started passing the ball well as well - against Villa I don't think I've ever seen as complete a performance from someone in that position - involved in everything - reminded me of Gary Speed for the scumbags - box to box and just non stop!! - Hope he's here for a long long time
