You could literally see him thinking. Pienaar was a goner well before Bosingwa tripped. And why did the ref run half the length of the pitch to talk to Cesar? Time wasting? If it was then ref obviously hadn't taken the pulse of the game. Could go on but can't risk being carded!
I mentioned him before the game as I believe he's a Merseyside ref. Think he did well up until the red card, but after that thought he tried to hard not to look a home ref and let Everton waste time and get all the 50/50's.
The ref seemed to give them the decisions in areas where it mattered and us not. Overall, I can't blame him for our draw.
The Ref was good for us. They had a definite penalty not given. Ours wasn't a pen, correctly not given, and we should have no complaints about that - Coleman took the ball. They had a man sent off which was never a second yellow. So we got lucky, but we weren't good enough to take advantage. But according to Hughes the sending off gave us more problems, pathetic.
Please watch the replays Oslo http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...tch-report-pictures-and-video-highlights.html It's in those highlights, the Hoillet penalty was incredibly clear cut. Their "penalty" was incredibly innocuous, with Mbia barely brushing the toe of the everton player. Why are you trying play our performance down and "big up" everton? Hughes simply said the sending off made them set up defensively and thus they were hard to break down, that's not a controversial statement- unless you're intentionally searching for ways to make it controversial. If another team's manager said it would you be giving them such a hard time?
I ain't trying to "big up" anyone. That is how I saw it. Everton's pen was 100% clear - he trod on his foot. Most pundits on my TV for what that is worth, saw it that way too. I am sick of Hughes' excuses. Of course teams can be harder to break down when they go down to 10 men, and set up to defend but he doesn't need to start whining about that for FFS, it gave us a better opportunity 11 against 10, which we were too ineffectual to exploit. Don't like it? Sorry but that is the reality.
Just look at Hoillet's penalty shout, it's on roughly 3 minutes 20 into the video, coleman doesn't touch the ball. Can we at least agree on that? It's easy to pause and replay that 10 seconds of video to get a good few looks at it.
He did....but there's no way that twat of a referee could see that he did. TV had to magnify it and slow it right down to show the slightest of contact! IMO that would have been given 19 times out of 20 as a penalty.
I remember Helguson getting a penalty in a similar situation in our Championship season, where he nipped in and took the ball off the defender. Certainly not intentional from Coleman, but highly suspect.
Sorry Oz but that's not worth much as 2 out of the four in the studio were former Everton players (Beagrie and Myhre) who made it clear from the off who they supported. The other two have been constantly negative towards us for a year and a half now. Yesterday was a new all time low even by their standards, I was close to sending in a written complaint so bad was it. It's like they have their own agenda/script written that they can't have an unbiased view towards QPR. Disgracefull. Hoilett's pen was stonewall, 100%. Clearer than the one Long got when nipping infront of Skrtel in the season opener which also was correct.
My first instinct when Hoillet went down was that it was not a pen, thought it may have been a free kick against him in fact on first sight, however much I wanted the pen. When I saw it in slo mo etc etc it showed Coleman took the ball. However biased or otherwise they are in the studio, their pictures showed Coleman took the ball. The Ref got it right, from his first instincts like mine or whether he saw Coleman take the ball I don't know, but it was a correct decision.
I am not having a go Oslo but this is where things get missed on the TV coverage. That ref was hopeless. He didn't want to make any decisions himself and was constantly looking for the linesmen to make a decision first. He was talked out of decisions by players and I think it is fair to say the Elerslie Road stand assisted in getting Pienaar sent off.
Am i being thick? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...tch-report-pictures-and-video-highlights.html I've watched the slomo replay 3 minutes 20 into that about eight times and still can't see coleman touching the ball. They both run towards the ball, hoillet gets there first and controls it with his right foot, and plays it forwards. Coleman then sticks his right leg across hoillets body making contact with hoillets right leg, and fells him.
Treading on someones toes isnt a penalty. Ours was a pen and their red card wasnt although i could see why it was given. He was poor though, just didnt seem to have control of the game.
