Quite a few of us have already met. Nines and Roller are very tall, Staines and Beth aren't. The handsome gingers will be me and my son Will. DT may have his red shoes on. Haven't met Wubba yet but I'm guessing he will be eating a pie. Judo has an R's shirt with Judo written on the back, and Sussex is his Dad.
My Dad was only a "low order" occasional Freemason (mainly for business contacts, networking in the building trade etc.) - but he always used to tell me about the secret Masonic handshake - apparently whenever you travel and meet & shake hands with a new business aquaintance, you are able to easily detect one a fellow Mason. As son of a Freemason, my Dad told me that I'm a "Lewis", but I never took up the challenge of the rather scary initiation ceremony, apparently (not from Dad and he wouldn't divulge the nature of that handshake either) blindfolded with a noose around your neck and a knife point at your throat. Perhaps we should try that approach with some of our new signings, so they know what's coming if they don't perform and give 100% effort! Wish I was joining you all instead of driving several of my kids to a summer cottage vacation spot by the ocean (Are we there yet?). Happy to say, only 4 hours away. Fear I may miss a stream of our game though.
Interesting! I'm not too keen on those kinds of orders myself. But I feel we should develop a handshake to distinguish ourselves apart and above other QPR supporters Do you have mobile internet? Try and get a radio stream?
Will be there...as said above...short, round and a girl...and just in case there are a pack of short round girls...Like Judo I have a shirt with my name on the back
awjm, we have decided to meet at the Cock Inn. It's a lovely little boozer in Hertfordshire. It's situated in a little hamlet called Herbum. It's near Tillet. The land lady ( Lucy Lykes ) who owns it is a mad QPR fan. The full address is ... Lucy Lykes The Cock Inn Herbum Tillet Herts Failing that we will be in the Crown & Sceptre, where we had the privilege of spending our last pre-match drink with Dave. ( BrixtonR ) Feel free to join us and say hi. We don't bite, and we're completely ordinary R's fans. You maybe surprised how normal we all are.
We used to tease Dad about that stuff, but he would never divulge that information (must be a bent finger thingy), or what he was actually doing as a young man in the Baltic states working for the British Telephone Company in the years leading up to WWII - we teased him that this was a listening post, spying on Soviet & Nazi communications, but Mum was always the word - "Official Secrets Act" he would state. Maybe he was a secret scout for the R's as he was heavy into that with his Dad. I just retired my almost 23 yr old 1991 Toyota Corolla 4WD wagon (cracked cylinder head port) at 350,000 KM, and my replacement vehicle, a very ghetto (my kids tell me) 2005 Chrysler 300 AWD with 200,000 KM, bought for only $2500, only has AM/FM radio + CD. I guess the score will be a surprise for me to look (or not) forward to when I reach my destination, likely around 8:00pm UK time (4:00pm over here). Not much spare cash with 5 kids, 2 at university and I turn 60 in Dec! That's why I drove that Toyota so long, it didn't have all that air bag, ABS, power option stuff (like the 300) - just a very reliable basic car with roll down windows that was great driving in winter ice/snow and also heavy rain (no hydroplaning).
The first choice is sounding a lot more appetising to me! I might stay there. That Toyota was a nice car. For some reason I love early 90s Asia cars. I think the cars of today look so boring, like bubbles. Everything is too smooth now. Anything before 96 is good for me. The best car I had was a slightly sportier Nissan Primera 92 (I think). Anyway, if I make it on Saturday (which I'm quite sure I will), I'll be the really tall, skinny, youngish guy probably wearing the retro QPR jacket with big Q P R on the back.
It was definitely a good crowd down the C&S today. In addition to many of the "regulars", it was good to meet a few new faces; awjm, wandle and Dave all the way from Melbourne. Roll on Ipswich.
