... can anyone else get into the race that seems to be coming down to a tale of two cities ... Manchester and Leicester?
cheers buddy ... as you've realised I am of course just having a bit of fun .... realistically I just want us to survive this season ... but we are currently a joy to watch - if you like your football with an attacking emphasis and with pace to burn ...

Ranieri is proving that a good manager can work wonders with a solid team, and reminding everyone (as Ferguson used to) that football is about the team, not about a collection of up-their-arses prima dona individuals. Long may it continue! The trouble for Leicester is that I doubt they'll be able to pay Ranieri enough to keep him.
... thanks for the compliment ... but a little more homework needed ... our owner has a net personal worth of USD2.5 billion plus ... we have become used to his leaving our home games (which he attends without fail) in his personal helicopter which lands on the pitch once the stadium is emptied ... Admittedly we are not in the same financial league as some of the mega rich clubs in the prem - but neither are we the poorer country cousins any more ... paying Claudio his worth won't be an issue ... there may be others.
The money means nothing, though. Look at Spurs! Look at QPR, Fulham, and Hull. There are plenty of clubs around the country that have a rich benefactor, outside the top 6 or 7 clubs. There's nothing special about Leicester, other than the fact that they have Ranieri... and that's the point I'm making. He is proving that management is still an art that can lift a solid team above those teams that rely on the "galactico" element so prevalent in the modern game and which is worshipped - unnecessarily, in my view - by so many clubs. It's early days, yet, I know; and we've all seen clubs like Leicester make flying starts only to collapse in the second half of the season - and the smart money will be on that happening again - but if, by some means, Leicester finish in the top 5, I cannot see Leicester holding onto Ranieri.
... think you have slightly misunderstood me ... the points you make reflect the fears / expectations of the majority of Leicester fans ... but I'm confident that Ranieri won't leave us for financial reasons ...
... .. my delusion does have some basis ...if we could comfortably afford the footballing mercenary that is Sven-Goran Erikssen we can afford to keep Claudio in the style he has become accostomed to ...
Fossel, sorry to keep on at you about this, but you are speaking the language of a deluded man! Money isn't the issue. As I have pointed out to you, there are plenty of teams, even outside the top 6 or 7, that, like Leicester, could comfortably afford to pay Ranieri whatever he wants. What you'd have to ask yourself is, in the even that Leicester finish 5th, ahead of teams like Everton, Spurs, Southampton, Newcastle, Chelsea, Villa, and 'Pool, and should any of those teams come in for him, offering him, at the very least, whatever Leicester is prepared to pay him, that he will stay?
... HIAG - I'm merely speaking the language of someone able to read Back to your post #6 .. "The trouble for Leicester is that I doubt they'll be able to pay Ranieri enough to keep him." ... for simplicity ... and in accordance with every one of my responses to you above ... I, personally (see above for rationale i.e the wealth of our owners) have no doubts that we COULD pay him enough - he may, however, leave for non-financial reasons ...
Again, Fossel, I apologise for coming back to this, but I can't let you malign what I wrote. No, you won't be able to pay Ranairi enough to keep him. Why? Because money isn't the issue (I've said that three times, now). If it came down purely to money, there are plenty of teams out there - even outside the top 5 or 6 - who could match whatever Leicester want to pay him. If Leicester finish above any of Spurs, Chelsea, 'Pool, United, Everton, and Newcastle, at least one of those teams will try to get him in. The idea that he'd rather stay at Leicester than manage Chelsea again, or have a crack at 'Pool is - go on, be honest with yourself - deluded.
... doesn't matter how many times you say it ... it is still an illogical self-contradiction ... if money is not the issue, then what on earth has paying Ranieri got to do with anything? ... and why are you making the link between money and retention in the first place if it is indeed irrelevant? ... so what then is the issue? ... and whilst you are in 'explain mode' - if money has no bearing on anything, please explain what, if not for money, the attraction of going to Everton, Newcastle or indeed Spurs might have?...
Because Leicester are viewed as a ****tier club to work for than 'Pool or Chelsea. So, if we take the money out of the equation, then it's a no-brainer. I wish you were a little more switched on than you are, then I wouldn't have to waste my time on this complete non-issue.
I cant see Leicester screwing up, ££££ will drop points V UTD. Leicester to be crown champions in March
Cheers Custard ... haven't quite got your confidence ... a 'safe' mid-table finish will suffice thanks ... around the same region as Palace, Everton and Spurs ...
