Is the Premiership Made Up Of Three Divisions? By Lawrence Rosenberg 3 June, 2012 12:18 You heard me. I think that the top division of English football is actually split into 3 separate divisions. The three divisions are as follows; The Top Teams, The Boring Mid-Table Teams and The Struggling Teams. Below is a description of each division and who's in it. The Top Teams (Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle) The first four teams in the list have been in this zone for at least 3 years. The finals two (Tottenham and Newcastle) are new members to the division, promoted from the Boring Mid-Table. The latter of the two teams actually got promoted from the championship a few years ago, so to find themselves in the top 6 is a fantastic achievement for them. Overall these teams are the "big boys" of the Premiership, who generally make it into the top 6. These are the guys that when you see on you're fixture sheet, you look to next week to see if you can make up the lost points. Most likely to win the Division: Manchester United. Most likely to get relegated from the division: Newcastle The Boring Mid Table Teams (Aston Villa, Stoke, Sunderland, West Brom, Fulham, Everton and Liverpool) This is a very difficult division to group as it is so unstable. Some of the teams on this list are pushing upwards (Liverpool, Everton, Fulham), whilst others are either stuck mid-table or on the decline (West Brom, Sunderland, Stoke, Aston Villa). The name "The Boring Mid Table", is a bit misleading is these teams are far from boring on the pitch, but for almost all of these sides relegation is a minute possibility and so is the chance of a title. The best most of these teams can hope for is a small time trophy like the Capital One cup, or possibly the FA cup as ex-mid-table team Portsmouth managed. Lets be honest though, when you see these teams on the fixture list you think win or draw not so much about the possiblty of a loss. Most likely to get promoted from the divison: Liverpool Most Likely to get relegated from the divison: Aston Villa The Struggling Teams (Swansea, Norwich, Wigan, QPR, Reading, Southampton and West Ham) Amongst these teams are newly promoted sides (Southampton, West Ham and Reading), teams that have been promoted for a year but donât really look strong enough to make it into the mid-table (Norwich, QPR and Swansea) and finally a team that has been stuck around the bottom for as long as I can remember (Wigan). These teams all have one common goal, stay up. These teams all have the capability of holding onto their Premier League status, but it is key games against each other that really count. I donât think other teams worry to much about these fixtures which can lead to complacency, Manchester United vs Wigan anyone? Most Likely to get promoted from the division: Swansea Most Likely to get relegated from the division: Southampton, Reading, Norwich.
Where have i heard this before .. oh yes me. Disagree with us being in the strugglers next year West bloody Ham won't struggle he must be a supporter
Broadly speaking I'd agree with how he's split it down, but I'm not sure of his various conclusions or the clubs he places into the various categories. Swansea's ability to leave the bottom group will surely depend on how well their new boss fits in? Also the games which counted for us weren't against fellow strugglers. Replace the promoted clubs with last season's relegated in that group and we only got 11 points out of a possible 36. Extrapolated over a season, that would have sent us down. I'm not sure you can really predict anything just yet, with new managers and/or players to come in to all clubs.
This must have been written before Rodgers left Swansea. I also think it's a touch generous on Newcastle and a fit harsh on Everton and Liverpool (much as it pains me to say so). You could argue 4 leagues because out of the top 6-8 that will challenge for Europe, there will only be 2-3 that can realistically win the league. We definitely have the potential to join the mid table as long as we have a smooth, uneventful Summer (as if).

there are indeed 3 leagues.. 1.QPR-out on their own and at the top 2. Chelsea Fulham Man Utd Norwich Liverpool Reading West Ham- scum ruperts cheats ******s thieves fakes plebs 3. All other Teams-some not too bad but mostly boring
With the exception of Liverpool his mid table boring lot are in the relegation battle with us Strugglers.
I have always maintained there are probably only four teams, actually make that five now, who actually play to win the title, everyone else plays to avoid relegation. The Europa league is a sideshow, and its not too clever to get sucked into that one; take a look at the history channel liverpool, who start their season three weeks early, courtesy of the qualifying matches they have to play. Nah, mid table oblivion for me all the way. COYRsssssssss
Our 'history' was continued in march mate with yet another cup win. Although i agree with your point about us having to start early in the EL,but going your 'Nah, mid table oblivion for me all the way' comment shows your lack of ambition,are you saying you'd rather your club never won a domestic cup? Surely the aim of any sporting institution in whatever sport is to be successful,we've been more successful than Arsenal since their last trophy win and we've matched Chelsea in the CL by being in two finals and winning one. We were 1 week away from admin and possible expulsion from English football 3 seasons ago yet we are still in the top 10 richest clubs in the world,now free of debt,and laughing at your piss taking.
Congratulations on that. It shows a sense of reality about where we are and where we've come from. It's the Ranger's board after all. Friendly visitor's always welcome. Our ambition, or lack thereof, is for us alone. By your own argument United leave you in the dust. Good luck with that. Poor you. We've passed buckets around at the ground, we're still not in the top 10 richest clubs in the world and we're still here.

The apple that dropped on Isaac Newton's nut that day, caused a light bulb moment that explained to all what we never realised till then: what it is that keeps our feet on the ground... the one that hit poor Lawrence Rosenberg at 12:18 yesterday, simply woke him up to what everyone else has known since the the dawn of time: that between black and white there are shades of gray.
