If this is inappropriate please delete.

Firstly this is not directed at any individual Moderator. The Mods do a hugely appreciated (in my eyes at least) job. I do however sometimes think these discussions can be relevant, because every process needs checks and balances. This is a question of policy rather than ability, I hope I'm stressing that enough. The Mods do a great job in line with the atmosphere of this forum, this is hopefully a debate about whether we need to adjust the atmosphere. It's also not me having a dig at anyone in particular's threads.

Personal background: old 606 poster who has been registered i think pretty much as soon as this forum opened. I stop by regularly if not often, so understand that my opinion my not may not be as relevant as those who use this forum a lot more. Would changes to the board cause me to contribute more often? Quite possibly.

Some of the most recent articles (6 out of the top 20 so nearly a third):

    • A thread celebrating the fact that a guy who is extremely proud of his nationality has missed out on a chance at playing football in the Olympics after he contributed to the winning Olympic bid. This player has had no affiliation with Liverpool for a long time.
      [*]
[*]A thread celebrating a player's exit from Euro2012 as he is the former player of our rival.
      [*]
[*]A thread celebrating an ex-player's bad form in a season where he won the CL, FA Cup and Euros
      [*]
      [*]One Gerrard vs Lampard debate
      [*]
[*]One person informing us of their holiday plans
      [*]
[*]A 'joke' ITK transfer thread to wind people up about a player who already has a nearly 30page thread

There's not one thread to acknowledge and commemorate the death of former player Miki Roque (CORRECTION here is the link courtesy of 'Gerrez Carrard OR Suarrol): http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...-FC-defender-Miki-Roque-dies-at-the-age-of-23)

Furthermore, 'WUMs' seem to me (importantly this is only in my opinion) to be dealt with very liberally, if at all, despite trying to wind-up fans over several articles. I won't name names but I think we know who is this week's flavor.

Now a comparative forum such as RAWK (for those who know it) may be considered too-heavily policed for some. The relaxed atmosphere on here can be really chilled, and i don't want to make what is a nice bit of escapism for most of us too serious. I will however raise the question...

Should our Moderators operate more heavy-handedly? How much more?

As everyone has said before me: Everyone is bored, and nothing is happening with Liverpool, hence other threads pop up and we're not in the habit of closing off-topic threads, especially as if we did then nobody would come on this board over the summer.

WUMs are treated differently by each moderator, but we all find that if you come across a particularly obsessive WUM, banning them isn't even enough, and when you have to ban every single one of their alias' it can get quite tiresome, so we just leave them and tell them to reel it in.

If you have any suggestions or improvements then we'll be happy to hear them.

The problem for me is not really the moderating or the wums. Its more the fact that we have certain Liverpool fans deliberately chatting bollocks and pretending to be ITK for whatever reason. Get rid of those type of posters and the forums would be much better for it.

Oh yeah, and these are the same fans who will go onto other boards to wind other supporters up and its THIS board that has to then deal with the back log of WUMS. Think we all know who I'm talking about so no need for names really.

In fairness SN we had a decent debate about current transfers, club policy etc, ok we didn't agree so you went for a rant <laugh> that's the beauty of it...you rant and you get opinions. The reason Baz's (optimistic) siggy thread got a lot of attention that wasn't footy related was exactly because there'd already been a massive 30 page thread on him. After 30 pages there aint much we HAVEN'T discussed about him...that just shows we care. I have to say it isn't too hard to get a footy discussion on here, we all know our stuff and enjoy debating the good and bad stuff <ok> I know I wouldn't stick around long if the banter was moderated too heavily.

I don't particularly care. I believe thread topics are daft at the mo because nothing's happening.

As for Wums: some are fun, some like recent, are just disruptive for disruptives sake. To these I'll generally respond a bit viciously.

I've had a couple of responses deleted but the cause of the response has been deleted as well so all logical action to me anyway. To be fair to mods they seem to allow us a certain amount of leeway to deal with the idiots ourselves & have a little fun with it. I have no problem with then editing once it becomes dull overall.

So far I've not seen a mod disrupt a genuine debate or argument which you'd risk happening if you start asking them to preempt.

So in short. I'm a happy camper & carry on!

  13. I think the fact that this thread is getting so much attention highlights the lack of topics and interests at the minute...<ok>

Suarrol, ITK = In The Know. There are some genuine fans on t'interweb who do get feed some scraps of info about targets etc but MOST "ITK's" are bullshitters looking for attention. I think we know what category the Sigurdsson thread falls into.

To be fair Lucaas the Sig thread was very obviously a p*ss take of the will he won't he push me pull nonsense that's infected all LFC TL of the lasts 2 weeks.

    It's up their with;

Sig will decide in 24hrs whether to wait 48hrs to decide whether to have frosties or Corn flakes for breakfast. His Dad said he likes Cornflakes....with sugar.

Sorry Frank but I'm not convinced. It wasn't humorous or ridiculous to be an obious wind up. I think had Sigurdsson signed for us after the thread then we'd be getting loads of other bazray 'exclusives'. Maybe I'm letting my disliking of his usual posting style cloud my judgement. Or I could be onto something.

Let's leave Baz's thread out of this for a moment.

The base question related to the actions (or lack of them) taken by our Moderators. I can only say that the few times that I have had to refer to them I have always had a reply from them giving me the reasons for their decisions. Therefore I have to say that their actions have proved to be considered and not just knee-jerk. Therefore, whilst I may not always agree with them, I appreciate the way that they go about a sometimes very difficult job.

Some of us do occasionally visit other boards. Sometimes to discuss issues seriously and other times to engage in a little wuming. Sure, that may provoke a reaction on this board but I would guess that we here are more wummed than wumming. It's only when that wumming crosses the line that it really needs the Mods to intervene.

With reference to Baz's thread. Why did it need moderation? It appears to me that we self-moderated by talking about non-Sig subjects!

Fair enough mate; everyone views theses things different. I've never taken ITK threads seriously. They maybe or maybe don't have insider info; doesn't make us sign anyone any bloody quicker & nature abhors a vacuum, especially in the Internet age.

Just don't think moderation is the answer because it relies either on a very rigid framework of rules that leaves a forum dull & lifeless or it relies too heavily on a mods personal preferences of what constitutes a good or bad thread/post. Lots of "this topic was sillier than my removed topic" ensues...

As an example of my personal dislikes I found 30 KD in or out threads to be repetitive, depressing & divisive but understood why it kept coming up.

Roll on start of season for BR in or out threads eh? :).
