............ cold turkey. You know what you need but it just isn't there for you anymore. You feel edgy, sometimes you panic and you seek other ways of easing your symptoms but it doesn't work because you know you need the real thing but can't have it until early August. It then becomes a bit like a prison sentence and you find that without knowing it you are making pencil lines on the wall counting down the days until the season starts again. I don't think I can hold on that long.
It can get a bit like that in 'odd' years when there's no World Cup or European Championships to keep us occupied. As for me. I'll just have to busy myself seeing England retain the Ashes!
Same for me, Its a massive summer of Cricket, so that more than fills the void left by lack of football. Sky are also launching Sky Sports Ashes, a whole channel dedicated to cricket. That's going to be like marmite. Love it or hate it!
Cricket and tennis keep me going, but every season I think that the off-season can't be as bad as before...but it is. My problem is exacerbated because my holidays are usually May and September...stupid times for a football fan.
Tennis, Cricket and a Lion's tour.. plus USA open starts today and 'fifa' wont us to play football in the summer!
I'm doing my bit to keep things light hearted and humorous so we don't need stupid bloody posts like yours trying to stir up trouble where there isn't any so if that is the best you can do keep your posts to yourself.
Fran my bags are packed and all I need to know now is when can you pick me up from the Cowes ferry on Thursday?
Godders, you've got it right, mate. I used to take comfort in the cricket, but we've been spoiled by having international cricket at the same time as a football season. I've got used to my two favourite sports running concurrently so I'm still missing the footie. This respite thing is OK, but I miss going to games and then reading/talking about them. Oh god, how long is it to next season? At least let's have something happen. A big transfer and we'd all be happy bunnies.
Junior World Cup Rugby for me! Well, there is a Totton boy playing for England. I'm saying "boy", he's 19 stone.
