Unbeatable home record (so far) but that away record needs sorting out if you are going to maintain a serious challenge for the top 2 places. Is the away form a worry for you?

There's a difference between form and results. We should have had a point at least yesterday but it didn't happen. We were pretty positive on the whole and if we play as we did yesterday we'll be fine on our travels. Things will pick up I'm sure.

yes, we need to pick up more points on the road as we won't win every game at home.

    A reasonable performance yesterday though.

<laugh> I am a closet Bluebird <ok> Just asking if the away points total, to date, is cause for concern for you guys. If what has happened so far (in away games) continues for the remainder of the season (using the law of averages) it might not be quite enough. I am hoping you can go up this time.

We were all over them in the first half, and in the second they clearly played for their new manager. Marshall almost nicked one with seconds to go. Overall though I thought we played quite well - if Bellamy and/or Maynard had been playing things would have been different. Gutted about the result, but I'm not panicking just yet...yet. Sodding trip back was a nightmare - who shut the sodding A40?

Ask me after Charlton on Tuesday, We played well other than a 15 min spell in the second half, Bolton brought some quality subs on and they made a massive difference to the game (diving included).

The luck or poor refs decisions cost us at least a point if not 3, we will play worse than that and win sometime this season.

I thought the performance was a step up compared to previous away defeats. Bolton should be pl. Petrov, Ngog, Warnock, Mark Davis, Zat Knight, Eagles And Lee are all prem quality IMO.
Freedman will get them up the table pretty quickly and they'll be there or there abouts in May.

As for us, As Glam says, if we play like that on the road we'll be fine and the results will soon come. If we beat Charlton I'll be happy with 3 pts from 2 aways.

Long answer: at least we had a go at winning a game away from home yesterday, whereas previously the line up has been all about packing the midfield and hoping for a miracle - which might occasionally happen against a poor side (Ipswich!). On current form we could win 20 home games i.e. get 60 points (which is clearly not going to happen), and still not finish in the top two - as our haul from away games is exactly point a game. This results in an optimistic total of 83 points, and even that will be nowhere near enough to get us in the top two. Am I worried? - Short answer - YES!

As I say, it's 6 points from 4 games. We need to average 20 every ten, that means winning at least 2 away games every ten. so for we have wone nil in this second ten, which just makes it harder to get the 20 over the period.
And believe me, 20 every ten WILL give us auto promotion. 90 points, no one has got that and not gone up.
On yesterdays form we should beat Charlton and the other 2 aways are Barnsley and Direby, so we need to beat one of those.
Mind that's assuming we keep winning our home games, if we slip at home it adds more preasure to the equasion.
With 5 aways every ten it is better points wise to win two than to draw them all but that doesn't account for the affect on morale that losing has, and again assumes we win the home games.
I think the sooner we start winning away the better.

It is possible, as the top 8 or so teams all seem to be fairly inconsistent at the moment, that 83 points may be more than enough for a top 2 finish. Still a stiff target to achieve mind.

With Maynard out for the rest of the season, what do you think Malky should do in the January transfer window? Could we get someone of proven Prem quality willing to come down a division for half a season, and if so, who would you like to see? This for me is key. Maynard being out has clearly hurt us, so someone of real quality has to come in to help us get to the promised land, particularly in those away games.

Completely agree - look what Jason Roberts did for Reading (and he's not even a good Premiership player).

I am asking, as requested CVD <ok>

Not wumming, it was a serious question a few days ago, and my thoughts on the away form are looking to become more accurate with every away game.

Away results are extremely worrying. Even Charlton fans gave themselves no hope of winning!! The away games need to be won if we're to go up.

Well the away form is surely down to the tactics that MM wants to employ away from home, It isnt working Malky. I will be glad when Bellers and Smith are fit again, plus gunnar should be playing. We were to lightweight across the middle last night, both Noone and Frei are only about 9 stone soaking wet.

On a normal day I would understand that comment but to go 2 goals up, what went so wrong to concede 5 goals? Something drastic must have changed during the game for that to happen - did Cardiff just sit back at that point, thinking perhaps the job was done?
