by Matt Barrett Taye Taiwo is wanted by Tottenham, The Sun suggest. The left-back is on loan at QPR from AC Milan with a permanent deal agreed if Rangers stay in the Premier League, but it is claimed that Spurs are looking to sign him. The Sun also say Juventus are interested in signing Michael Essien from Chelsea along with Arsenalâs Alex Song. A Juve source is quoted as saying: âWe need to back our plans for a strong European campaign by reinforcing the squad in some key positions â and Essien and Song are under review.â Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror say Florent Malouda is considering leaving Chelsea after being left out of interim boss Roberto Di Matteoâs first squad. And the Daily Mail and Sun both report that Chelsea have been put off appointing Rafael Benitez because of the bad feeling towards him among Blues fans. The Mail say opposition to the ex-Liverpool man registered firmly with chairman Bruce Buck, chief executive Ron Gourlay and technical director Michael Emenalo. The Sun declare that the clubâs hierarchy have advised owner Roman Abramovich that Benitez is no longer an option.
Sun, Mirror and Mail, no need to take too seriously. Unlike it seems most on here I think Taiwo will be a huge star for us. He has been getting better every game as he adjusts to prem pace. Having said that if he does not get game time it will be difficult for us to make a judgment on converting his loan to permanent in the summer (I think we have first option, whatever the Sun says......and given Spuds will likely be losing their manager, I doubt they will be committing the new one to buys they have no involvement in. Unless, as I suspect, Levy does all the transfers as he does not trust Arry with the cheque book.)
If we stay up he is ours, no need to worry about anybody else nicking him. If we go down, we can't afford his wages and he won't come to us anyway. No issue.
Although he's not exactly shone, he has got better. I could easily imagine him being superb for us but it'll take time (not easy to move from Italy to the Prem and find your feet within 6 months).
I havent been impressed so far, but he will come good i reckon. Takes time to adjust, even more so mid season.
He's an extremely good player, I've said it all along, he's an actual quality player and probably our most praised across Europe in our team
He is an extremely good player potentially. But in reality he is ****. That's why he was dropped last game.
