We have only lost twice at St James since Alan Pardew's arrival on the 11th December 2010. Only loosing 2 of the last 18 games at home is some record and we are undefeated in our last 11.

Our last 11 results @ SJP
    Newcastle 4-1 Wolves
    Newcastle 0-0 Man Utd
    Newcastle 2-1 Birmingham
    Newcastle 3-3 West Brom
    Newcastle 0-0 Fiorentina
    Newcastle 0-0 Arsenal
    Newcastle 2-1 Fulham
    Newcastle 3-1 Blackburn
    Newcastle 2-2 Spurs
    Newcastle 1-0 Wigan
    Newcastle 2-1 Everton

Looking at those results St James Park is evidently a tough place to come to. So I ask the question, would you consider St James Park to be a mighty fortress once again?

I certainly would, in fact this is the first time since the Sir Bobby years that I would be confident going to St James Park knowing we could take at least a point off anyone at St James.

No because it never happened, one home defeat in 2011 that is good going, got to keep it up.

Hmmm, maybe, The West Brom, Birmingham and Everton games were a bit shaky, whereas we we a lot more dominant under Sir Bobby!

But, I definitely think that we are harder to beat under Pardew, home and away :)

I'm getting more and more confident with each game that passes but I'm still a bit wary of any game we play this season because I still think of us as being completely unpredictable even though our record this season says otherwise.

I reckon if we can keep this combination of good wins and grinded out wins going by the end of the season me and everyone else will be considering our stadium a fortress, which gives us a massive advantage as it knocks a lot of teams confidence's when coming here.

Definitely moving in the right direction, who would have predicted this after the sacking of Chris.

Tbh, we seem more confident in away games than we do at home. We seem to underestimate teams at home and often find outselves on the back foot.

I know, it's unbelievable! For me Pardew has done fantastic and deserves all the praise in the world.

It's now November, we are unbeaten and we have the best defensive record in the league yet our back 4 (who have been phenomenal) is Simpson, Saylor, Colo & Raylor. Who would have thought at the beginning of season that these 4 would be the 4 best defenders in the league! It's crazy!

    Agree with this.

Really hope its just the more attacking style of play at home that's leaving us a bit more vulnerable rather than any arrogance creeping in.

The latter would be much harder to put right IMO.

I was doing my nut at the start of the season saying that we would be left with Raylor as Enrique's replacement, I dont think anybody liked the idea of that, but I really didnt expect him to play out of his skin like he has, he isnt the best LB in the world by any strech but he puts huge amounts of effort in every game and that seems to be working at the moment.

Still dont rate Simpson either but he must be doing something right.

They all play as if they know each other now, while there was times it seemed they didn't know each other never mind trained together. Something happening off the field that's helping them to gel.

    Long may it continue.

I fancy us more away from home than at home. At home the pressure is on for us to attack infront of our fans. Whereas away, Pardew seems to concentrate a lot more on tactics for specific matches (see Stoke). Teams (like Wigan) are now coming to SJP and trying to nick a point, this makes it very difficult to play!

Credit to Pardew though as we are picking up points home AND away.

I agree, we do seem to play a lot better away but at home we have been grinding out results even when we have been playing poor. Which is apparently a sign of a good team. Could it be that other teams are fearful (not the word I'm looking for but I'm tired so it'll do) of coming to play at St James because no matter how bad we play, we always seen to get something there.

It could of been really bad, Perch was in line to play LB against Arsenal before he got injured and Raylor stepped in. I wonder what our season would of been like if Perch had not got injured.

I don't want to think about that, imagine if we had signed Gardner and Crouch instead of Cabaye and Ba? Shivers down my spine.

Posted a thread on this a while ago. Would be great to have teams fear coming to SJP again. It's been too long!
