Or do you think you should cash in on him in the summer regardless? He is 29, and will be probably not be injury free next season? Cash in?
dont think any arsenal fan would want to see rvp leave. However should he fail to sign a new contract then we may have little choice other than to sell him. I do think it may be dependent on us getting cl football but having said that i will be amongst a minority (possibly the only) arsenal fan who would blame him for doing so considering hes been injured for the best part of four seasons and given us one and a half good seasons in return. I didn't blame cesc because he would have been a star regardless and gave us several good seasons. Same cannot be said of rvp who was nurtured and moulded at arsenal into the player he is today.
but as a Gunners fan - selling RVP will never make sense. OK you are right if we were given £150m I'd sell.
If I knew that Arsenal would reinvest the money we would cash in - then I would say "ok lets do it" But knowing that is not the case then I would say "no, lets not cash in because we wont reinvest it".
I've been a great fan of RvP since his first days, believing even then that the maturity in his game would come through. It wasn't long of course before he began to give us a glimpse of his abilities so I'll always wish there was a place for him in the team as long as he wishes to stay irrespective of the size of offer made for his services. I hope we make the CL but I wouldn't blame him if he were to go. If the meatheads who run our club cannot show ambition then what has he to stay for?
The section in bold .. why do you say that ? He hasn't been injury prone for the past 2 seasons, his injuries have come from dickheads who can't tackle. This is certainly not the same injury-prone RVP from seasons past I see no reason for him to be any different next season.
He is 28, not 29 until August, and he will sign a new contract regardless of whether we make CL next season....
The 71 million is £30 million plus a huge ****ing salary. Just the papers tryna get their readers to orgasm over big numbers.
