An annoying beardy bloke? I've seen pictures of PC, and he doesn't look like he's got to the bum-fluff stage yet, let alone a beard!
You certainly 'got me' CS Ruddy is a decent keeper but I would put Keelan, Woods and Gunn ahead of him. Just goes to show really how few really good English 'keepers are around now when half-decent 'keeper like Ruddy is being considered for an England call-up. Let's not kid ourselves Ruddy is good, but nowhere near international class IMHO
I totally agree mate Ruddy has been excellent this season, brilliant on occasions, but I think perhaps sometimes we do get a little carried away about him and I personally would also put those three comfortably above him in the pecking order - and to be honest I'd probably also have Robert Green up there above him as well. That's taking nothing away from JR at all as like I said he has been excellent and made some cracking saves this - and last - season, but let's not get carried away in thinking he's perfect and doesn't make mistakes because he has done and for me there is still room for improvement - which we will hopefully see in the next few seasons
The man has improved during each of the two seasons he's been here! If he stays here for as long as KK did, and keeps improving at the same rate, he will eventually overtake Lev Yashin as the greatest keeper EVER!
What about David Marshall? Performed heroics for a while. I don't mean our best goalkeeper but maybe comparable to Ruddy.
We nicknamed David Marshall "Tiny Clanger" because he was so error prone. Good shot stopper but useless at coming for crosses and kicked like a girl.
Worst ever keeper must be a straight scrap (preferably to the death) between Simon Tracey and Michael Theoklitis
1. Graham Benstead 2. Mark Walton 3. Paul Gallacher It's nice to be a bit different Ruddy has clearly had an outstanding season, and I think he's been better for us in the Prem than Rob Green was. An international? As a No. 1 I'm sure we'd all say no, but as a third choice I think he's the obvious candidate.
Roger Hansbury surely. Personally it is Chris Woods, and as for Ruddy, Currently good enough to be in the England squad, but well down our all time list. My Dad always said our best Keeper ever was Sandy Kennon, but he was even overshadowed by Nethercott.
In our famous cup run, Ken Nethercott earned us a replay, playing a large portion of the match with a dislocated shoulder, I'm pretty sure that was against Sheffield United!
That was what brought Kennon into the team, and my Dad was always insistent that Kennon was the better Keeper, that was his opinion and having never seen either play I couldn't argue. I heard all the stories from my Dad as he went to every game of that Cup run.
