He's our most important player IMO. Lallana's been sensational recently, but Lambert's all round play is up there with any striker who's played for Saints since Matt Le Tiss. He's at his peak right now, another reason to add to the lsit as to why promotion this season to the Premier League would be fantastic. Half our team is ready right now. If he isn't scoring, he's creating is Sir Rickie. Remember the days of when Saganowski and Rasiak were out of form? They did nothing. I bet he scores at Watford. And a hat-trick against Pompey.
He would of scored in but for a class save from Frankie Fielding from the free kick. And missed by a whisker against West Ham. One of those will fly in soon you wait!
I know he is certainly leaner than when he first arrived and to me he is the complete striker. He can shoot, cross, head and a hold up a ball better than so many others. If we had not had four different scorers on saturday then I might start wondering when Sir Rickie's next goal might be coming but we did and therefore 'the futures bright, it's red and white'. COYS
Thank you lamballana! I asked for this thread to be created because the last time we had one like this Rickie immediately scored a hat trick. Watford away is just the sort if game he'll do well in, maybe a pen, maybe finally nail a free kick.
Be nice to see him crack one from outside the area. But whatever he's doing, he's always causing problems for the opposition, so its fine with me.
Hes such a class footballer his vision and passing is awsome and he also has great controll for a big lad if those were his only attributes he would still make it into the team easily but as we know hes got so so much more. For pure footballing abiltiy Lallana is still ahead but most important in the team is definitly Sir Rickie.
Such a class player. As others have said, brilliant vision and passing. Able to hold the ball up and shield it, before laying it off perfectly. Able to do the quick 1-2 subtle stuff, and a simply superb striker of the ball. What he has lacked in pace throughout his career he certainly makes up for in his head. He's usually a couple of seconds in front of everyone else on the field, with his brilliant ability to read the game. I used to think Rickie had just discovered a striker's knack, when he came from Bristol Rovers, but he's so much more than that. From the moment he became one of the Saints team, he not only lived up to everything that had been said about him, he surpassed it. And he continues to do so almost every time he plays. Since he became a Saint, Rickie has gradually lost a few pounds, and this season he has slimmed right down. So much so, that now he has a wee bit of initial pace, and the other day he made me laugh out loud when he took on the Burnley LB and beat him with skill and guile, laying on a trademark assist pass which Guly just failed to convert. Nigel talks about Adam Lallana being the best player in the Championship, and there is little to argue about there. But take Adam out of the equation and there is no contest. Rickie is the best.
The best target man I have ever seen play for saints. His overall game is superb and the way he holds the ball up is excellent.
