Bruce was always banging on about newcastle, now pardew seems to keep talking about sunderland seems di canio has got to him. I have to admit I have totally called it wrong on Di Canio he has been a revelation. I am away at the moment but saw the video at the end of the game yesterday and it was hairs up on the neck time.
Pardew is such a ****er. Even yesterday he was banging on about the effect of playing Benfica on the Thursday before the derby. Long may he reign. x
Pardew is simply running to form: new club; bright start; starts to slip; relegation. Look at what happened at all his other clubs...
Pardew is under massive pressure now as they have slipped back again into the mix with the rest of us. TBH, both SAFC and the Nags will survive but Pardew spent a canny whack in January and they are as much relegation fodder as anyone else down there and now they have had the worst home derby result in 30 odd years. Fat **** Ashley and Voldemort Llambias are not happy; the Nags faithful are so depressed they have taken to smash their own town up and attack defenseless animals and their big saleable assets such as Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Tiote are under performing. Pardew is desperately trying to deflect the criticism from himself and use any excuse at hand (just as Bruce used to do) other than the obvious one that its anything to do with him. Bloody marvellous really. Lol
Greggs, typical devious geordie bastards. Although Danny Graham has 'thrown me' he is trying really hard, hope he gets a goal now.
Pardew's comments regarding that you lot could "only dream of Europe" were nothing short of pathetic. Does he really think that's what we wanted to hear from him at his press conference before a match as big as yesterday's??? He then went on to say he'll make sure we finish above you next year etc, it was embarrassing. If his aim for next year is to finish above Sunderland then he's already on his way to collecting his P45. Finishing above you means nothing if you finish 11th and we finish 10th, would that then make it a successful season next year? Would it f*ck. I'm not having a pop at Sunderland by the way, this isn't a "Newcastle are bigger than Sunderland post". Pardew should set targets based on the ability of the squad, not based on where our biggest rivals finish. He should firstly not even talk about next season as first and foremost we still have plenty of work to do to maintain our premiership status. Anyway in answer to the OP yes I fear the derby loss has eaten him alive just as it did with Bruce, thankfully I can only assume he is now a dead man walking and will be replaced in this summer with our premiership status still in tact.
Did he think that comment would send us spiralling into free fall? He's really shown himself up as an immature, bitter old man. Not what you guys need to be hearing. I'm sure you wanted hear 'tactics need addressing, need to put extra time on the training ground to implement these changes' surly?
God knows what he thought those remarks would achieve. You're right though, I'd have much preferred him to come out and say our shape and pressing of the ball was poor and that we've worked on this all week in training etc. I don't buy that tiredness from europe has affected our whole season because of our abysmal perfromance in both domestic cups. In his defence though I do believe the monumental effort we put in against Benfica is to blame for such a poor display against you to some degree. I'm not trying to take anything away from you because you were by far and away the best team,it's just for this once performance the tiredness of our players did have some part to play. It's just difficcult to hear from him after he's been banging on about it all season, using that as an excuse rather than analysing our performances and addressing the numerous issues that we have. For those asking it's been circulated before that he does have a set release clause should Ashley decide to do the right thing and remove him from his position once the season is over (regardless of which league we'll be paying our football in next season).
