We all know about the pre game ritual. Music often plays a part. Big exciting inspirational music. Eye of the tiger. Fist pumpers, heart racers, inspirational lyrics to get the players worked up. All ruined by our slow, dull, minor sounding anthem. Change the song! Lets get some thing more inspirational. Land of Hope and Glory.
Agreed. Some national anthems cause their singers to cry, shout, prepare for battle, etc. Ours causes singers to fall asleep. Is this the perfect reason for a revolution? Establish a republic and we can do away with this 'god save the monarchy' nonsense. Either that or insert a guitar solo into it.
Definitely shouldn't be God save the Queen, especially when not everyone is a ****ing Royalist Jerusalem I reckon.
True. No they're not, but it should be able to be felt by all. I wouldn't feel passionate about singing God save the Queen either.
I liked Chile's national anthem I think it was and all the crowd were well into it. The music stopped and they carried on singing like a chant. Like I say I think it was Chile but could be wrong Yes ours is depressing I think we should also do what New Zealand rugby team do as well
Land of Hope and Glory works for me (even if it was originally written FOR a member of the royalty). I'm less keen on "Jerusalem" than "God Save the Queen"- "Jerusalem" has too much of a religious connotation to it. Rule Britannia would be pretty neato.
the Anthem is a problem, hard to sing god save the queen with any emotion when you couldn't give a **** about the queen. #timefornewanthem

In fairness god save is the uk anthem in theory so Britannia is as valid as is land of hope and glory
sounds pretty similar to a tune i hears sung by england fans yrs ago, but saying no surrender no surrender etc.
