I don't think so. Don't trust the guy at all. https://www.shieldsgazette.com/spor...for-newcastle-as-he-pushes-for-sale-1-9354092 Mike Ashley is prepared to lower his asking price for Newcastle United – as fans step up their protests against him. Ashley put the club up for sale 11 months ago as the team battled to stay in the Premier League. Sports Direct and Newcastle United chief Mike Ashley. The billionaire – who is focused on his Sports Direct empire – had indicated that he was looking for upwards of £380million. However, the Gazette understands that Ashley is ready to revise his expectations and consider bids closer to £300million. Ashley broke off takeover talks with financier Amanda Staveley in January. Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners had lodged an offer of £250million, which was rejected by Ashley. An associate of Ashley labelled talks with Staveley as a “complete waste of time”. Ashley has had no success in finding an alternative buyer up to now. United fans, angered by two relegations and years of under-investment in his 11 years as owner, have stepped up their protests against the fat bastard this season. There was a demonstration calling on him to sell up outside the club shop at St James’s Park before Saturday’s home game against Arsenal, which ended in a 2-1 defeat. The result left Newcastle 19th in the Premier League ahead of Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Ashley was involved in a stand-off with Rafa Benitez this summer. Benitez was told he had to sell to buy in the transfer window after refusing to sign a contract extension. United’s manager had wanted to know that Ashley’s ambitions matched his own before committing his future to the club.
Don't believe it for one second, more PR bullshit from fat Mike and KBA. Need to keep the protests and marches up outside the stadium and on social media. Still don't buy any of the merch until he's gone. Until he's gone nothing changes for me.
The protests and bad start (not surprising given the matches played and players bought) may in fact contribute to him ACTUALLY considering selling the club. Logically the closer Rafa's contract gets to expiring the worse it gets for him to get top dollar. In fact add a couple more bad results and we become prime relegation candidates (if not already) the value plummets even more. If we do get relegated and Rafa walks then our value is nowhere near £300 million. So it could be a case of take the money now fact boy!
The problem is if we do look like going down then a prospective buyer will almost certainly insert relegation clauses into any deal again. The fat greedy **** should have sold up in the summer for a realistic figure instead of 'gambling' yet again and shooting his own toes off, yet again!! He must have just kept sticking his fat chubby fingers in the fire as a kid, because the stupid twat just doesn't learn, does he.
Oh................ im pretty sure that the Shields Gazette will not be the first port of call for Ashleys cohorts to get the word out that he is lowering his asking price ................. it's just a made up story based on assumptions and wishful thinking.
That is why I think it might happen between now and January. The value of the club deflates post January because any prospective owner would just wait to see what happens post January transfer window. The optimum value was at the beginning of the season but if he sells before the next window the new owners have time to buy themselves out of relegation. If we get relegated Ashley knows for a fact there would be no quick bounce back. Thus he loses virtually all bargaining power. The time to sell is NOW!
No. If he sells at a "lower" price it will be because he's got the "reduced" amount out already by dividends or something similar.
Maybe but I do not care as long as he goes and we can rebuild. It might take years but as long as he is gone!
I agree but not at any price. If he strips the Club and gets his "reduced" price as well as the cash then this makes it harder for any new owner to rectify years of inadequate spending on players and facilities. If the pressure is kept up on him and SD then I think he will sell for less than what he originally expected to get but I just hope it's not too late for us and PL survival.
Although I don't want it to happen if we did get relegated and we can restart albeit in the championship that wouldn't be so bad. The potential the club has is there and given the right players and tools we could be a well established mid table premiership side. Give Rafa the right tools to work with (assuming he stayed as part of the project) then we might actually have a team that makes us proud.
The Journo, Starforth rights for one of the big papers... think it's the times too so I guess it will be in their also.
Greedy, fat and untrustworthy but adequately acquainted with the laws of buying and selling. He is never likely to get more than about £300 million, assuming the club is worth that now. There are a lot of scenarios in which he would get much less. A cash offer will get his attention.
It actually does not matter how much he wants ..................... nobody seems interested in buying. There will be the odd Michael Knighton or 'Stewy' Donald type idiot sniffing about, but we need a new owner with deep ambition and preferably pockets to match. Those are few and far between and none seem that interested in coming this far North. Plus, regardless of how much he wants out, you just know that he will start ****ing a prospective new owner about ...................... he just cant help himself. He might WANT out, but financially he doesn't NEED to be out, relegation or otherwise.
I've given up caring now. Far too many false dawns and 'cry wolf' episodes. That fat *unt will please nobody but himself. Let's hope he keeps his health. He's a cancer in this club and he needs cutting out.
