He is a goal scoring midfielder, which we don't seem to have at the moment (Taarabt obviously is on his way out). I would prefer a loan and possible signing in the summer if he proves his worth.
Swords is right, he's scored a couple of screamers but 12 goals in 117 career appearances isn't exactly formidable.
after watching that united palarse game, one of the only united players to stand out was that 'Pogba' or whatever his name was, looked class, tall powerful skilful and seemed to have a decent footballing brain on him too.
No he's not. But he's better than Buzsaky and Derry. I'd rather we brought someone in from the lower leagues like Adam Clayton at Leeds but can we really turn our noses up at an international with 100 appearances for United?
Darren Gibbo - has got 6 months left on his contract, £3Mil was the quoted market value back in Aug 2010 when he had 2 years left on his contract so there is no way he is worth £3million quid. Another player who has taken the dollar and bascially hardly ever played, his game played stats are really terrible - not even very active in the reserves... Can't see what the point of signing him would be we've got Joey and Ali in central positions and if we want a new attacking midfielder we can do better, maybe if he was cheap he would be good cover but surely the if the guy has anything about him at all he would want some actual playing time - i think the championship would be the best palce for him. MAybe Warnock see's something in him, i'd love to think he could transform him into a sort of Brian Robson style player but i think he'd need the skills of a fairy god mother.
100 appearances in the coca cola cup , or games where they have no significance. We need to strenghten in areas that are costing us games, that is upfront and centre half. We can't defend crosses/corners for love nor money and we are dominating games without that cutting edge. If the Irish boys on here say stay clear thats good enough for me.
At the risk of sounding churlish I think we can do better than Gibson. As mentioned above there will be a lot of jostling and loans in Jan as many minor international players look for starting berths to prove their worth for the Euros and Olympics next Summer Krancjar a good bet.
Don't wish to be cruel, but there are nearly men, who have the talent and the opportunity to become the player their oozing potential points them towards, but who for some reason (maybe bad luck) don't quite get there; and then there's the likes of Gibson who in his youth perhaps showed signs of real talent but has developed into the sort of player who consistenly promises but fails to deliver because he simply doesn't have tha talent. If we sign him he will very soon become a liability and we'll be trying to offload him for far more than anyone is prepared to offer. He will end up in the championship and will give a good account of himself there. Steer well clear.
