Hi everyone. Feel free to disagree, but if you consider how most teams that drop into league One tend to stay there a while, (Norwich being the honourable exception) then it is a tough League to escape. When clubs do get promoted, one needs only to look at the position in the Championship to know that there seems to be a fair chance of getting back in the Premiership first time. One other thing. I am glad to report that "not 606" seems to have fewer of the doom and gloom merchants which infest the 606 boards or is it just the lack of WUMS? I refuse to be downbeat when we are so close to promotion.
Can't disagree with that, I do wish the saints would rap up promotion at the earliest opportunity instead of making us suffer!! I still think we are going to do it this time.
League One is a dog eat dog league , everyone is scrapping for points even if it is just 1 point to climb the league for promotion / play off hopes. It shows now how close and exciting the league is as there is approx still 8 / 10 Team still battling ... So in answer to your question: Is League One the most difficult to escape from? - IMO yes , for some teams and it could be down to losing as little as 1 game in the season that could have made the difference between going to the Championship or still playing League One Football in the following season. ....But I believe Southampton can get out of League One this season! Good Thread COYR!!!
Come on lads.....there is no taste to nothing. Yes it will go to the wire...but would you have it any other way? That's what footballs all about. To be honest no I don't think this league is any easier or harder to get out of. When you are going for promotion or scrapping to stop being relegated or just playing to keep your heads above the troubles. You play to win you make it ruddy tough for the opposition. No matter what league you are in. you will be saying exactly the same when you are battling to get out of the championship trust me. Been there got the tee shirt and the medal not forgetting the postcards before.
IMO this is the most difficuilt to get out of. I feel the gap between Lg1 and the Chapionship is very small, yet the gap between Lg1 and 2 is quite big Its been proved by the number of points that have been required for promotion and playoffs over the last few seasons. It changes quite alot on a season basis. In the top 2 divisions normally a couple of teams run a way with it and the same handful battle to stay up.... but with Lg1 even now.... i feel anyone in the top half of the table could easilly gain promotion and any1 really can beat any1! Its also hard to attract players to the 3rd tier and this means alot of the teams have very very similar squad class and often even eachother out. Brighton, Saints etc have been lucky to bring in alot of faces and thus reason for sitting high up. Other teams over perform and other teams under perform...it really is a lottery league. Look at Swindon..... struggling yet were solid last year. Plymout coming down and wednesday coming down.... struggling! I think we really need promotion this season. Dont like being negative but i wouldnt blame oxo lambert fonte etc leaving if this doesnt happen. Who knows but im excited for the push! COYRs
I definitely feel this is an extremely tight league, and I have never seen anything like it before. It's going to be a neck-and-neck race to the finish line for the likes of Saints, Bournemouth and Huddersfield now, but that's why we love football isn't it ?
It is very tight in this league and has been for the last few years. I think the lower you go the harder it becomes however the Prem this year has probably suprised many people; eg Blackpool doing outstanding, Chelsea had a 9 game win-less run etc... Funny old world...
Extremely tough , just shows how ridiculous it is that people (especially the glory hunters) slag off our lower leagues which are the best and most entertaining in the world. Once (fingers crossed) we are in The Championship we'll have less pressure on us and more of a freedom to play how we like it , this season is about just getting the results to get out of this league and move away from playing at hell holes midweek.
This league is harder for the 'bigger' clubs because most of the other teams just sit back and defend for the point from the off, time-wasting and putting in niggly fouls. In the league above teams are more open which makes it easier, which is one reason why Millwall, Leeds and Norwich are doing so well. When for example Huddersfield came here they went for the three points which is why we managed to turn them over, if they had come and sat back it may have not been so easy imo.

I can still see Bournemouth faltering as we get to the business end of the season. Right now I feel our biggest rivals are Huddersfield and Charlton. The fact we have two games against Charlton could mean the difference between us or them finishing second. Two draws would do neither of us any good. I agree that this is a tight league but if we can win 10 of our remaining matches we should be ok. There are still alot of our rivals with games against each other and us.
Seems to me that the toughest league to get out of is the scottish premier league, especially if you are one of the old firm teams. Oh, how they would love to be in our place
Interesting point.........mind you if any of the big four to six teams came out of the Scottish league surely this would do considerable harm to the Scottish league itself?
