Did anyone else when first seeing Lamela's goal think "What are you on about commentators? It wasn't that special."

Goal of the Season so far for me. Outrageous goal.

Am i the only one missing the point? If he hits it with his right foot - as he should - then nobody bats an eyelid. Why does using the other foot, when it doesnt change the trajectory of the shot or decive the keeper - make it special?

It didnt achieve anything that wouldnt have happened if he'd used his right so for me it's the kind of pointless s**t they w**ked about on Soccer AM for 3 hours.

    Every has gone OTT.

It great when you're pratting around in the park or whatever.

But he's basically admitted these he's a £30m player who only stands on his right foot.

For me he might as well do a somersault before the ball comes to him and then shoot with his right. It's exactly the same.

Exactly the same apart from he isn't doing a somersault and isn't shooting with his right...

What I meant is it's utterly f**ing pointless and achieved nothing that couldnt be achieved by hitting it with his 'correct' foot. That's not skill if it achieves nothing, it's just trying to look good.

Were loads of hot women watching or something?

When I said a similar thing someone they said to me what about a bicycle kick? But with a bicycle you generally only attempt one when the ball is in a awkward position.

You don't try a bicycle kick when the ball is in front of you ready to volley.

Yeah, and it requires skill. He obviously meant it, and it took a fair bit of skill to do so.

I'd rather see more goals like Lamela's than fluke goals by Rooney from the half-way line.

I think it should just be enjoyed as a piece of elaborate, showboating indulgence resulting in a very entertaining goal.

I sometimes feel the game lacks players who are capable of the bizarre and unique like this, and it's nice to see on occasion.

    Top skillz, lad.

That he couldve scored with his right. As I clearly stated, using his left did not change the trajectory or decieve the keeper.

    Nail on head.

Cheers, a huge honour. Still nobody has explained to me why it was necessary for Lamela to do that though.

    100% precisely what it was.

I'm going to stick my neck out here - if you enjoyed that goal there's a good chance you play football video games.
