Folks, this bid of ours for the young French left back Benjamin Mendy is starting to look farcical. Not only have we agreed a fee with his club Le Havre (the only club to have done so mind) and had the lad over here for two days checking out our club and facilities, the boy has still not agreed to sign for us. The latest developments would lead us to expect the boy is weighing up other options possibly with a view to Marseille coming in. Personally I don't believe in signing any bugger that doesn't want to come to my club. Therefore I would be delighted if my club pursue a policy they did when trying to sign Nugent a few years back....withdraw the bid and make it public. This boy had had ample time to decide whether we re right for him or not. I am fed up to the back teeth of my club being "used" by these type players to engineer better deals. Personally id laugh me waps off if he ended up at Cardiff (then he would realise what he's missed) Lets face it folks, if Mendy wanted to sign, he would have done it by now !!

I thought Nugent turned us down for Portsmouth at the last minute and Keane was well pissed off with him. So if thats the case then this mendy is doing a Nugent on us not us on him.
Not the case as I recall Steve, we publicly withdrew our bid for him leaving him with no choice other than to join his only other option (Portsmouth). Yes Keane was pissed off but only with the mega delay in his decision prompting us in the end to withdraw our bid.

He's moving to the South of France over moving to the North East of England. He's taking less money. He's playing in Europe. He's staying close to his family. I don't see how the lad can be slagged off. Just one that we missed out on. It happens.
Steve - Biffa speaks the truth Nugent was apparently waiting for Everton to come in with a bid and was using us with Portsmouth the other interested party so when we pulled the plug there was only Pompey left as Everton did not come in

Why do players get it into their heads that If one team shows interest, they all will? We were in no way on the same level as Everton back when we were after him, so to think Everton would show interest in the same target as the most notorious yo-yo club at that time - Nugent was deluded. Thankfully he went to Portsmouth, we dodged a bullet there. Same as Mendy. To think OM would show interest if he came over on Ellis private jet, and a fee had been agreed... they live in a bubble sometimes. IF OM have come in (and according to all reports they haven't agreed a fee), and we pull the plug, then he's missed out on the next level move.
We can`t win them all. Forget Mendy, move on. The way our new scouts are working they`ll know a few more.
