sadly neal was badly out of position at plainmoor when gulls scored and argyles goal went straight through his arms on saturday. we can ill afford to drop any more points especially when the 2 up front are not sparking
You could well be right Atcham, there is not much between the two goalies and Smith was dropped after a couple of mistakes in away games (Port Vale and Arsenal). They have both been pretty good in the home games. However, my instinct is that GT will stick with Neal on the run-in.
I agree with greenhousmeadowman - I can't see Smith getting any more game time barring injury or several more mistakes in the next couple of games. Neal is a player who fans love to hate (much like Regan) and has been very good for the majority of this season when he's played - Swindon, Torquay and Plymouth being the exceptions. Ideally, we would sign another keeper, but I can't see it happening. There are very few keepers available who are better than what we've got. At any rate, any League Two keeper is either going to be average all the time, or great but error prone. Sure, you get the occasional excellent loanee or youth prospect (Hart), but I'd rather have someone like Neal who has single-handedly won us points at times this season than a keeper who doesn't cost or win you points.
it was a howler though...we really need to strengthen up in this department, if we are to progress, apart for Marvin this is only our other weak link!
I agree that we do need to attempt to bring in another goalkeeper in the summer. I think Turner will stick with Neal for a while yet, unfortunately being a goalie means that you are often judged on one mistake made, if i am right in what I heard then Taylor was at fault for the build up to the mistake happening so he is also partly responsible for it.
It's good to have competition between the sticks and i'm sure Neal must be on pretty thin ice right now. I would imagine both will still get new contracts though.
all i am asking for is a safe pair of hands between the posts, if you think neal is that, so be it. as far as i am concerned he is on trial, and ben should be warming up
Has anyone else been to the Garra Rufa fish spa in Town which Smithy's mother-in-law owns? I spent the first 10 mins laughing my head off as the fish ate my disgusting feet
I bought my wife a trip to feed the fish last Mothers day, the one at the top of the Cop/bottom of Dogpole.
