Yes because if I was a defender and I heard the phrase 'he's behind you' and they were talking about Mannone, I wouldnt feel very confident. *Note* this is just a joke.
No! Three chances and you're out for me! Give him one more chance to redeem himself! Particularly as I have less confidence in his replacement judging by his efforts in the league cup against Stoke! Although that is slightly contradictory to my three chances and you're out rule! Oh well, nevermind!
No, instead the outfield could stop putting him under pressure with amateurish back passes that would get ridiculed on the Sunday league pitch. Fact is these are forced mistakes, the quality of the backpasses are unforced and play him straight into danger.
Mannone may have looked like Sleeping Beauty recently ....... but it can't help going off to work with the Seven Dwarves hi ho hi ho
Do you know what, I've never known a Sunderland team pass to the goalkeeper so much in my life. Just cause mannone likes to play the ball out when he gets it, it has made the outfield players pass the buck expecting Vito to play us out of trouble, He's a keeper, keep laying them on him he's going to **** up. The tragic thing is as outfield players passing should be their bread and butter but they can't even give their own keeper service.
He needs to be asked. I'd rest him (as opposed to drop him) if he feels he needs it. But if he wants to continue, he's been too good for too long just to cast the lad aside.
i voted to keep him but i really dont know, you concede 10 in 2 games and i appreciate the comments, but i just dont know tbh
Yeah he has to be dropped for me!! If he's not what kind of message does that send out to the rest of the squad? Doesn't matter how ****e you play you won't be dropped?! Personally didn't see anything wrong with the back pass on Saturday what was he even trying ffs all he had to do was put his foot through it..
keepers are not smart enough with the ball at their feet by design, foot through it and away ,he has kept his place in the goal keepers union with that **** up though.
I wouldn't say Mannone 'played ****e' on Saturday. What message does it send out if you make one mistake, in a game, and you're dropped?
I think Gus needs to seriously consider dropping him but he needs to keep a close eye on him this week in training and if he feels Vito's confidence has dropped in any way, then yes bring in Pants.
I'm really not sure on this one tbh with you all. Don Corleone has been a fantastic, value for money signing imho. OK, he's had two **** games & his confidence looks shot to ****. He's a good keeper & he's pulled us out the ****e on many occasion. Good keepers don't become bad keepers overnight. And lets face facts, the back four haven't really been awe inspiring have they? Drop/rest him or leave him in? I don't know, if I was Gus I'd speak to the lad & find out how he feels. I'm pleased I'm not a football manager.
Mannone should get dropped if your other keeper is in better form/shape than he is. What went wrong this weekend? I've not seen any highlights or MOTD but read that you made a couple of mistakes for the goals? Were they farcical or just standard loss of concentration?
What message does it send to Pantilimon if he doesn't get a chance this weekend. You will be in danger of pissing off the better keeper.
