Is it only me who finds this a little bit wrong and over the top? Respects could have been paid without wearing all that gear. Obviously I'm not pinning this on the kids, they've been told what to wear. Yeah I'm probably opening a can of worms here but a discussion is a discussion as is an opinion being an opinion. Your thoughts? Harmless? Or Unneeded commercialism? Lest we forget.
It doesn't offend me in any way. I think it's good that kids are shown places like this. All mine have been on school trips to Belgium/France (sons) & Dachau (daughter). All are grateful that they did. It helps them put what we have now into perspective. They boys were made to wear their school uniforms for that part of the trip. This was not to publicise the school. The boys are over there as part of a remembrance tournament involving many (maybe all) PL U12 teams, with the top teams progressing to a European Remembrance Tournament at a later date. It will prove to be excellent life experience for all the boys. As for wearing the club's colours. The photo represents them showing respect for an ex-tiger who lost his life in battle. I think the colours are a great tribute to this & show the club has not forgotten his sacrifice.
I don't see a problem really. Every football team did exactly the same last weekend before kick-off. I think the Tigers gear just emphasises the bond between the lads and the fallen hero Douglas Morgan. We shall remember them.

No worries Cortez. We all have different views and different ways of seeing rememberance. All that matters is that we never forget.
As the reason they were there is that he was an ec City player I don't see a problem with them wearing City gesr. Better that than a variety of ridiculous, fashionable stuff.
I'm with the others on this fella .... I don't see any problem, respect is respect at the end of the day, but each to there own thoughts really.
It's actually very thoughtful and bridging the gap between 1918 and 2014 with the football club being the link. Douglas Morgan may be in a foreign field but we still honour him.
To clarify Im on board for showing kids this type of remembrance. I just didn't know if the bright orange hats were necessary. To be fair, this thread could probably be closed?
Bright "orange" hats? I thought our colour was amber. Regardless, some of the boys will be moved and remember and maybe some won't. As a seventeen year old, I visited Ypres and Menin and was gobsmacked that there were so many names on that huge arch of those killed. I'm sure the boys in the "bright orange hats" will remember the occasion and I hope that, "At the going down of the sun ..." along with me, you will remember them.
Nice gesture by the young lads to pay their respects to a former Hull City player who made the ultimate sacrifice 100 years ago. Well done to the U-12s and their coaches.
It wouldn't have been too long ago when half of them would have turned up with manc & scouse tops on! I think it's fine to be dressed like that.
