am i a half full, pessimist or what?

But, is anyone else worried to death about the state of our club and all the negative around it and the clearing out of almost everyone!!

Its all very well saying we have people in contract and offers to others but if they all go elsewhere and leave ( which they must if they dont want to be BCFC) then just what will we be left with?
Yes we all said we knew with the FFP the high earners etc would have to go, and youngsters used, BUT bloody hell we will only have carey and a load of 18-21 yearolds at this rate, and unfortunately with all their enthusiasm etc they wont be enough to do well in a very hard ( even mens) league 1.

There still seems to be only bad and negative news coming out of the club at the moment to me, its like bloody rats leaving a sinking ship!!

I do not want to go back to the bad old days of the 80s and early 90s, please NOOOOOOO!!

Please people come to my aid, put my mind at rest and tell me i'm being stupid and going too far over the top!!!!

    over to you peeps.......

I am quite optimistic. The club should change, and will do. No more basket case BCFC, then again ..

Hi Redandy; I am the eternal pessimist as I "Always Believe" that if City can mess up, they will.

But we should relax a bit after the trauma of relegation. There will not be much activity at the moment as many football people have gone on holiday after a long 10 months without a break since 1st July last year. Don't take too much notice of the internet and newspaper rumours as they have to fill space up with something - fact or fiction.

And while we may well lose some of our higher earners because they do not want to play League One, there will be plenty of others who are younger, less well paid and thus keener to succeed with us to assist them in their careers so they can join those in Championship or Premier at some time in the future. That could well be with City.

We know how stale many of our squad became so this is an opportunity for SO'D and his management team to turn us around. For the first time in years there are probably four or five ex Academy boys with a realistic chance of becoming good pros and combine these with some sensible new signings as outlined above.

So this pessimist is quietly confident that we will not slide any more and most will be well pleased and surprised with next seasons performances and results.

You're not alone redandy because I feel much the same way and my wife calls me the moaner. Nonetheless I am very concerned at what happened, but we cannot change the course of history and so we must move on.

Our history of cocking things up big time is my main concern for our future and I have this constant sinking feeling that things will get considerably worse before there is even a glimpse of something better. The leaders of BCFC had a perfect chance to get things right just after we lost at Wembley but all they did was lose buckets of money and bring in players that didn't a rat's arse about our club. To add to my concern it took them 3-4 years to realise that they were making mistakes and trying to hide it under a bush on an Ashton Vale village green didn't earn them any more brownie points with most me. Sad and sorry state of affairs in my book and unless they know how to set the record straight without sticking their collective heads in the sand, or even worse up their backsides, then all will not be well down in BS3.

I've been around long enough to just become 'resolved' to it all.

I must admit I probably enjoyed following City through the early 80's as much as any other time so its just groundhog day really..

We dont need 'big names' we dont need 'reputations' what we want for the first time in years is a squad of young, fit and keen players who will bond as a unit, play until the 96th minute of every game, never accept defeat gracefully and have a will to win things.

Back to the early GJ days then just hope that when the players get past their use by date we don't keep them on either out of sentiment or because we haven't looked hard enough for better players this time round, I mean just what the heck has our scouting team been doing over the last 5 years or so?, apart from sleeping and playing Football Manager I mean. PS I'm off to play Football manager again myself it's 2015-16 City are in the Championship with a new squad unbeaten after 26 games 14 points clear at the top having been relegated last season from the prem wouldn't that have been nice if real.

That is my nickname, Mike. Chris Garland dubbed me with that one on a train to Plymouth Argyle in January 1961 for an FA Cup tie. He was about 12 years old at the time, and it stuck with the group of us who followed City everywhere in those far of Third Division days.

The struggles with Bristol City remind me of the banking crisis. A lot of damage has been done, we've slagged off those in charge, but the system continues to exist. We still have many of the old guard here, we still have the same old coaches, we still don't have a new stadium and the board are probably still making the same old decisions.

Really, what has changed since relegation? We have a DoF and we've lost our good players. Will anything change when next season starts? We'll have to wait and see.

Probably get ripped for this, but I am looking forward to L1.....lets face it, we were ****e for the last 2 seasons and it was so bloody depressing to watch us play the way we did and get stuffed on the pitch week in week out. I just felt we were no where ready or good enough for the championship and L1 is probably,at present, our level.
Just cast your minds back to the days of Scotty Murray, Tinman, Noble to name but three.....little gems in the lower leagues and we all watched with a smile on our faces and a "bounce" in the ground...none of this booing and jeering of recent seasons. We were decent sized fish in a small pond yes, but it was a whole lot more enjoyable was it not.
Our day will come one day...of that I am sure..but in the mean time I am quite optomistic about the next 2 or 3 years.
PS....I am not saying for one minute we will "walk" the league...far from it....I predict a mid table finnish for us as we re-build and re-structure.

The club needed to change - a plan appears to be in place for that to happen - might be painful in the short-term, but nessessary in the long-term (a bit like going to the dentist)

I agree CCR, I believe the management of BCFC have held the view that it is better to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond, top end of L1 will probably get bigger gates than we did at the wrong end of the championship, not expecting a reduction in gate prices, cheaper wage bill everyone is a winner.....................what about the fans? nobody gives a toss, treat them like mushrooms and idiots!
