Is it a case of either Bony or Michu in the team?

We saw on numerous occassions this season that Laudrup either played Bony or Michu from the start and often substituted one for the other, and we lacked a suitable game plan for Bony until Michu was out injured. Now Monk has also done the same thing when we needed at least 2 goals to get something from the game. The only reason I can think of for this substitution (other than the fact that Monk has lost the plot) is the fact that Bony and Michu cannot play in the same side.

Can anyone else understand that substitution? I also note that that wasn't the only substitution I do not understand. Dyer should have stayed on and Jonjo should have come on for Canas who was useless today.

It's a case of a manager not having a clou what's going on!

My decision would be to play Bony with Hernandez and Shelvey.

On todays game, well I can't fathom out why he took Bony off, 3-1 down then play 4-4- ****ing 2 if we have to. At least give the defence something to think about having two up top.

I don't see why Michu and Bony can't play together. I think most of us would agree Monk is no tactical genius and are bewildered by some/most of his subbing decisions, so maybe it's no surprise and he's just copying Laudrup in swapping out Bony for Michu today.

That's why I asked if they can play together as the substitution today and those made by ML suggests to me they can't. We needed both of them on the pitch today.

Who was the younger guy sitting / standing next to Monk today that seemed to be doing most of the talking / thinking in the second half.

Shelvey was a positive when he came on. Bony going off was .... ****ing nuts. Jdg did not add much.

I think Laudrup would have done ... Shelvey for Canas, then Michu for probably Dyer, then waited to see how that worked out ... then run JDG for Leon if still behind at the end or JDG for Bony.

But I think Shelvey pulling the strings alongside Michu would have been great with Bony up top.

Bony as striker with Shelvey and Michu sharing 90 minutes as attacking midfielders till seasons end please . If I 'm not mistaken , Michu prefers the attacking midfielder role so lets try to keep him happy on his return to first team .
