Aye very good Liverpool is in fact ahead of the rest of the UK on many aspects For example, they were the first city to stop reading The Sun
And they're always finding novel and innovative ways of stealing benefits and other people's property.
Talking about stealing benfits, did anyone see that programme last night on Channel 4? It followed 2 guys, both on job seekers I think they called it, and they had to show proof every week or fortnight that they were actively looking for work. The first guy had to document it on some card - for the show, he wrote down a shopping list on it. He then went in and filmed himself handing it over to someone at the jobcentre, she didn't even look at it, then told him his money would be in his account in the morning. The other guy showed the person his phone, some emails he had sent off to prospective employers. On one, he actually typed on it, 'Please don't give me a job, I want to stay on benefits'. He also got his allowance put into his account the next day. ****ing joke.
Being serious for a second, it was an eye opener. The second guy also was filmed going into the jobcentre with painters overalls on. They asked him if he was working, he said no. They then said, 'So just to verify, you're painting your own house?' He replied yes. Money in the bank the next day. The system's a sham.
They don't check anything, the proof that they're looking for work. They just tick a box or something on a screen and send them on their way.
I worked for the DWP for about a year and a half. Depending on which jobcentre you work in you get treated like ****e, are poorly paid and get **** all support. I also worked in DWP head office and got treated like royalty. Free lunches and everything. Above a certain management level you even get free first class travel to meetings, seminars etc. The people who work on the front line get treated like ****. Is it any wonder they stop caring?
They had a guy on the programme who had worked for them for years, but wasn't anymore. He came across much as you just have. It was truly shocking. I'm not having a dig at the people on the front line btw, I think they're destined to fail because of the set up.
