"This has been the most unsettled season, both personally and as a team, since I joined the club" http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ol-can-t-compete-in-Premier-League-title-race For the first time ever i'm not fussed if he does. I trust BR to find the right replacement
We can't compete with City and Chelsea financially. But when you waste £55m on Carroll and Downing it certainly doesn't move you forward as you would expect after spending such amount. Also, with silly mistakes like last night we can't frickin challenge for top 4 let alone the title.
If they are direct quotes and nothing is "lost in translation" then it would appear to be the start of process where he/his agent is angling for a move away. Love Pepe, in the past, he's saved us more points than he's cost us.. however this season, it could be the other way round, shame, if he could regain his form of a couple of seasons ago, I'd happily keep him!
He got to a world class standard of goalkeeping a couple of years back but hasn't been able to maintain it. He's been with us a long time and it must be as frustrating for him as it is for us that we've gone from running utd all the way in the title race to where we are now in a few years. If he wants to leave then that's fine by me and I will wish him well as long as we get good money for him.
There's nothing in that article that isn't stating the bleedin' obvious imo. The rumours of him leaving have been doing the rounds for a long time, I don't think this sheds any more light on them, tbh.
Yeah but will he ever get that form back? If he doesnt want to be here then probably not Look at these stats http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine...rove-liverpool-must-replace-pepe-reina-190920
he's said nothing amazing here. 1. he is right it has been unsettling to be out fo the team for him. 2. he is right when chelsea slosh that much cash about for nothing and city and utd can pick up anyone they want for our total available funds and pay 200k per week everyone knows it can't be done. 3. he's jsut been consistent about the style of play and patience. I don't se emuch in it to say anything new... so if he's bid on by barca for 30mil i say hock him....
"Some people say I've had a bad season, but honestly I think I only had three poor matches, at the beginning of the year." The pepe of old would not have settled for 'three poor matches,' never mind using it as an excuse as to why he hasn't had a bad season.
Yeah Saint, I think more is being read into that than is actually stated. He goes on to talk about how erratic we are and how this is perfectly natural in a transitional team. if he is setting up an excuse to leave with "we will never compete on the football field" (I'm not sure that is in fact what he is saying) then fair play. If he TRULY believes that then he shouldn't be on the pitch as he's going out with defeat in his mind before a ball is kicked. However I think this is the continuing pattern of our senior players either off their own bat or in an attempt to support Brendan, putting pressure on the owners to put their money where their mouth is. That they the players see that more needs to be invested in the squad to actually compete with the top 3. We need another quality keeper anyway. He needs competition even if he wants to stay.
"This has been the most unsettled season, both personally and as a team, since I joined the club.' I feel this is either a lie, an exaggeration or just his personal feelings (even though he says as a team). We are playing the best football we have played in years. If he thinks this is unsettled he should look at Rafa's last season, Roy's time in charge and last season. But I agree, it doesnt say I want to leave.
