http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/9514117/is-redknapp-a-soft-touch? 12/10/2014 By West London Sport QPR boss Harry Redknapp has described criticism of his management style by Roy Keane as âunfairâ. The Sun on Sunday reports that former Manchester United star Keane, currently the Republic of Ireland assistant manager, has accused Redknapp of being too soft on players. Keane said: âSome managers seem upbeat with the players, like Harry; âAll right lads, do what you want, have three days offâ â all that carry on. âYou donât want people to be cosy with you. You think I was cosy with Brian Clough? Do you think I was cosy with Jack Charlton? Alex Ferguson?â Redknapp, whose side are bottom of the Premier League, responds in his column for the newspaper. âItâs unfair of Roy Keane to discuss my style of management,â he insists. âHe doesn't know how I work, I have never managed him and he is talking from a distance. âIâd never dream of talking about his management style. What he does is up to him and so is the way he chooses to work. âI like Roy but what he is saying is rubbish. I donât have to prove myself to anyone, because Iâve been a manager for three decades.â Meanwhile, there continues to be speculation about Redknappâs future following QPRâs dismal start to life back in the top flight. http://www.westlondonsport.com/feat...oy-keane-criticises-qpr-boss-management-style
Regardless of whether Keane's opinion is valid or not, it's a bit rich for Redknapp to criticise him for having one as H is always ready with a rent a quote on anything or anybody. Presumably his 30 years of experience allows him to suggest that Roy Hodgson is a yes man for the FA and that Rodgers or Martinez would be great England managers even though he has never, to the best of my knowledge, worked with any of them. Of course he talks to other people in the game with direct experience........just like Roy Keane. Your reputation's already on it's last legs H, whining won't save it. Getting our team out of the trouble you have dumped it in might.
He has to prove himself, not to Keane but to his employers and the thousands who turn up every week to witness the fruits of his labours. Currently, I don't think many of the aforementioned care about his countless years in charge unless he calls on that experience to turn around the current situation. We've been burnt by players living off past glories and Redknapp's quotes do little to dispel the notion that he's doing the same.
Great reply Norway! But Keane would have broken the "Føkkers" leg. Was Adel the F Reserve? That would explain a lot.
Don't think that is correct mate. Believe that clip is from his time at Portsmouth. It was either James Keene or Mark Burchill who hit that ball, depending of who to believe.
I thought Harry was talking about Darren Anderton being out which made me think it was Tottenham. But he looks young so you are probably right.
Old arry is old school and his ways are played by some teams in the lower leagues. His way has gone and a better modern style of management and football is now played in the top league and it shows whenever a team plays against harry.....he needs to get up to date or retire as his style is finished.....
Perhaps we need some of this grit in the dressing room, instead of all the smooth talking:-
There's very few alive (if anybody)that dislikes Roy Keane as much as I do. However, as I've said before, I wish our players had even 10% of the desire that he had. Harry out now.
I'm thinking Harry comes across as being soft BUT, he's not the softest touch. Were coming last. We have a manager selling his book, a star player talking retirement and selling a book, a new coach when your not having a coach, in Hoddle ......... who happens to be writing for the DM weekly, a newly appointed 'Rectum of Football' in Les Ferdinand ( must be a book somewhere )....... Joey writing, having pissed off his ghost writers so now he needs to concentrate more on writing. ....... get my drift as to who the softest touch is ................. TF.... for allowing all this crap to carry on!
Chickens come home to roost and all of a sudden it's not fair As SB said Harold has survived in the game giving his opinion freely about everyone I am loving it watching him squirm to be honest ... So should everyone else he has upset over the years
Harold is a media whore. You wouldn't think that we are currently the worst team in the Prem and the subject of every negative article going by the way he is carrying on, wished he spent more time studying current training trends and tactics rather than writing for that rag and being interviewed on TV and Radio every 5 minutes.......
This was touched on briefly on the Sunday Supplement on Sky. They danced all around the issue, but they couldn't bring themselves to actually criticise the media darling that is Harry!
