I think it would be a bit harsh to start knocking GA on the basis of the 2 recent matches, disappointing as they were. We were up against Barnet, struggling to get off the bottom. However I should remind us that Barnet's last 3 results have been:
    SAT 27 OCT Chesterfield 0 - 1 Barnet
    TUE 23 OCT Wycombe 0 - 0 Barnet
    FRI 19 OCT Barnet 4 - 0 Northampton

In the lead up to the match against Oxford (who, by the way are 15th in the Table) Oxford had in their last 6 games, won 3 (netting no less than 12 times) and held Gillingham to a draw.

We expected to beat both these teams but both of them had run into form whilst half our team were out injured. I think the fact that GA found it necessary to play 2/3 of the last game speaks volumes.

It is difficult to assess someone's managerial capability with a struggling team and short of ammunition. Had he won under such conditions then I would be one of the first in favour of giving him the job. But I don't consider him a failure at this stage and interviewing potential replacements now is tantamount to a vote of no confidence. I'm not convinced that any manager would do any better under the current conditions.

On the other hand, being a manager on a game by game basis is not in anyone's interest. Therefore I would like the board to say "Look Gareth, we understand you have a difficult task and we would like to give you a reasonable period of time to provide us with some indication that you could be the right man for the permanent job. So let us confirm now that you have the job for the rest of the year, after which we'll sit down together and review the situation".

By the time a decision is made our choice will from a smaller group of unemployed managers,Dyche has taken over at Burnley and Laws at scunthorpe.I would give Ainsworth another month and if he hasn't turned things around we should look at someone with experience of getting teams out of a relegation scrap.
Rocky,if Ainsworth who is popular among players and fans can't improve things what chance has Scott? He could even become a hate figure if we lost our Football League status which we tried for so long to achieve, who would ever forgive the man who destroyed what martin O'neill had done for the club? not me!!

whether we stick with ainsworth or not it is still going to be a gamble ,i hope gazza does well and takes the job for the rest of the season.it's just my opinion that we need a fresh start, maybe if gazza stays off the pitch and concentrates on the management side things will improve.i wish him well whatever happens cos he is a decent bloke .

The other thing that we need to consider is what came out of the Trust meeting last night and it doesn't look good as next season's playing budget will be cut. I think we should go for Gazza and hope he can turn things around but we are not looking good!
