?????????? i don t think so to be honest ... what you recon .. of a clock keeping time like in basketball if the ball goes out .its stopped .anything else injuries , subs etc the clock stopped .. i think this would be a great idea, everybody can see , less to do for the ref ..a longer game aswell . be interesting to see how long a ball is in play in a normal game ..thoughts
The potential for 10+ mins of added time is not going to be a good idea if you look at the overall amount of football played throughout a season.
well they say its 90 mins ...but its not even close in mind in most games . prob be in play about 70 odd mins i recon
Is Arsenal value for money? Hmm, interesting question I suppose it depends what you want for your £2k+ per year!... Whilst Watching Pool fall about like Keystone cops is apparently worth £59 but not £77!
Yeh but tbf you get to see them holding hands and doing a curtsey afterwards! please log in to view this image Klopp is the one on the right... next to Coutinho
No way is football value for money. Not anywhere, at today's prices. Over priced and overrated players. Watered down football where great tackles are penalised. Drama queen players who go down at the slightest touch. Over zealous stewards that pounce as soon as someone stands up. All seater stadiums. Rant over.
I think someone did a study before with the clock stopped (like Rugby) and it worked out the ball was only in play for around 40 or so minutes. So don't think it would work you could have midweek games going past midnight! In general it's not value for money really compared to other forms of entertainment. Clubs will win though because they take advantage of fans loyalty
I think that stopping the clock is sort of the reverse of what should be happening. Make everything to do with stoppages speed up. Less time pissing about on set-pieces, quicker bookings for time-wasting, no time out for trivial injury treatment. Anyone picks up the ball when a decision goes against them? Booked. Two players ****ing about when there's a throw in to run down the clock? Both booked. Player goes down hurt, but not seriously and not a head injury? Carry on and let the physio come on, as long as it's not in either box. There's far too much gamesmanship going on at the moment and it reduces the fans' entertainment value. Destroying the flow of a game can be a very useful tactic for negative sides or those in the lead and it's too easy at the moment.
Good post I agree and it's also why I don't think bringing in a 'challenge' system for video replays etc. as it will just be abused as a way to kill momentum
yes it does me head in .players pretending to be injured . the dynamo kiev player the other night ..how it made me cringe and just look at what football has become he was holding his head wasted about 3 to 4 mins replay showed he was not even touched .. pity full what makes it worse his side were getting beat . to many stoppages for value .. and 4o mins in play well that is mad aint it
