Have Ferrari decided to spend money in the wrong area? Lewis Hamilton £8m Felipe Massa £7m Sebastian Vettel £7m Mark Webber £7m Michael Schumacher £7m Nico Rosberg £7m Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Jenson-Button-signs-new-McLaren-contract.html
if those are the other wages of drivers, then yes. but i suspect that those other figures may be wrong...
I wouldn't believe the Daily Fail, but most articles about driver salaries agree that Alonso is paid the most - which I believe he deserves.
No driver is worth that much, especially now that they have so little responsibilty to the technical development of teh car due to the lack of testing!
Remember both Seb and Mark get bigger bonuses for winning races and good results for the WCC. Seb is probably earning more than Alonso this year with the 9 wins he got.
Valid point! I think performance driven salaries are different to high base salaries! Salary rewards a core skill set and bonuses reward performance.
If I was a team boss this is how much I would pay the drivers : Alonso - £19m Hamilton - 18m Button - 15m Vettel 16m Webber - 10m Massa - 6m Schumacher - 8m Rosberg - 9m
Yes he is definitely worth it. Currently the most solid and complete driver on the grid in my opinion.
A lot of that figure is money made from personal sponsors, promotions and royalties. The figure is more like £15 what he is getting from Ferrari
Well, I assume that you're not looking for an essay about whether anyone is "worth" as much as they are actually paid in F1, or any sport. The only people who can say if his salary is justified are the people at Ferrari Towers. If that's what they think that they need to be paying him to stay, and they want to build a team around him, then why not? Could they have found better value with Lewis or Seb or Jenson or...? I'm not sure that anyone could have got more points than Alonso has in this years Ferrari, especially as you have to assume that Alonso would be racing against whoever (you chose from the list of other drivers) was in his Ferrari, in their car. That's the thing with wages in sports sometimes. Sometimes half the value is not just what the driver (or footballist or whoever) brings to your team, but it's denying him to the opposition too that makes them "worth it". It's always difficult to evaluate a driver, as there is only 1 other fair point of comparison, and whilst Massa did keep Kimi honest and gave Lewis a good battle in 2008, but he is being made to look decidedly average again this year by Alonso. However, I'm not sure that pre crash Massa is the same driver as post crash Massa, so it really is hard to judge what Alonso has actually achieved. In conclusion... I don't really care as I have ever given Ferrari a penny, and when I can afford a Ferrari, they can pay their driver whatever they want, I'd be minted
Look I love Seb and all, but Alonso would have to be first pick because of his experience in general. Seb and Lewis would match Alonso, but with regard to developing the car I would still give Seb at least another 2-4 years until I can happily say he can lead a team entirely just like Alonso. Lewis lacks in this area the most and with his mindset and media problems at the moment wouldn't make me blink, he's too high maintenence. With Alonso you get 2 drivers for the price of 1, super talent and vast experience over the field, worth his weight in gold.
As much as a JB fan remember 2 things in racing. I'd rather have speed than reliability because you can easily fix those issues more than actual pace Always go for the faster driver even if they crash too much because you can fix those issues as well, while with a driver that never crashes and come 16th every race it's never going to work out.
