we have supported this guy against Liverpool last year , against Arsenal this year , but his performances have just declined. And his attitude has gotten worse. I think he should be dropped till Jan and Remy should be given his chance. http://www.banternation.com/posts/Diego-Costa-Poor-Form/
It's increasingly looking like Costa or Jose will have to go, probably come the summer. Have to say, Jose has stood by Costa throughout his issues and he was the last of the big names to get dropped. Costa has done very little to repay that and just shown petulance and a lack of application. So he sorts his attitude out very quickly or Remy plays. Remy hasn't let us down though his fitness is a concern. Im not having this midfielder playing up front nonsense either.
Agree with this 100% Costa needs to sort his attitude out pronto. Even when he plays and is on form, he is a discipline problem. Doesn't matter if you are the best player in the world, if you are banned from playing then it does us no good. Too many loose elbows and boots being thrown about. There is a fine line between passion and petulance.
Welcome! And I agree entirely with you. Enough is enough, we need world class players and hes not playing to that level. He isnt interested in the team aspect of the game: Pressing, holding the ball up, holding the right position. He's not arsed so neither am I.
It's a real shame because last season he seemed to walk the line just about right. He was disrupting defenders and scoring goals. Now it seems he has been worked out by opponents and refs. He is now the one whose form is suffering for all the little run ins he has all the time with opposition players. There is no doubt, he is a fantastic player when on form and applying himself correctly. At the moment he is a liability and I can 100% see why he has been dropped. As I say, Remy and may be even Falcao would add more at the moment. It's just a shame neither seem to be able to stay fit enough for long enough to stake any sort of claim. Could be a case for all 3 strikers going in the summer (or before)....
Well when Remy plays, he has been decent, always thought he gave his all. Falcao hasn't really had enough time to show us anything to be honest. But truth be told, he isn't going to be worth the money we are paying him. There are much cheaper back up striker options, especially if Falcao is perenially injured. I would prefer an academy player being given a chance if there are any half decent ones in there. Gee......wouldn't Lukaku come in real handy now.
I think Falcao would have done okay but injuries have ruined any chance of him making an impact with us and he'll now just be seen as an expensive vanity project. Remy has never let us down and a good solid back up. I certainly don't see him as the future leading the line for us long term though. To win the league/C.L you need a world class striker. We had one last year but he's disappeared somewhere....
Just found this on Sky Sports, an analysis of our possession, work rate and chances stats. The chances one is very very alarming but perhaps not surprising to those that watch us every week do nothing in the final third....(my emphasis on the underlining) Chances Mourinho has regularly pointed to the opportunities squandered by his team in explaining their poor results this season and Chelsea's presence among the Premier League's top six for chances created would appear to support this view. Arsenal and Manchester City are the two teams to have created the most chances and are also the two favourites to win the league. Chelsea are not far behind on this metric despite struggling to find the net. "I think it's clear that we create so many chances and we don't score goals," said Mourinho. "It's obvious that it's not a question of developing the game, going through the phases of the build-up and arriving at the last moment, putting the ball in the net. We are arriving at so many situations where we just need a tap in, and we're not doing that." Team Chances created Clear chances Arsenal 210 41 Man City 199 29 Chelsea 170 11 But… Where Mourinho might be wrong in his assessment, is that there is a startling difference between the quality of chances produced by the top teams and those being fashioned by Chelsea this season. Opta defines a clear chance as one that a player might reasonably be expected to score. In other words, the tap-ins to which Mourinho referred. Chelsea ranked joint-top on this metric last season alongside both Arsenal and Manchester City (66 chances) but it's been very different this year. While Arsenal and City once again lead the way, with leaders Leicester next on the list, only one Premier League team has created fewer clear-cut chances than Chelsea this season. That suggests there are issues "through the phases of the build-up" as well as with the final touches.
Point being, might go some way to explaining Costa's struggles this year and perhaps his increasing frustrations. Strikers being judged on goals and all that.
