Is ANYONE going to back Carlton House if he runs?

With all the controversy going on amidst the participation of Carlton House in the Derby and his price drifting like the proverbial barge pole I have one simple question.

Cometh the hour and Carlton House is confirmed as a runner for the Blue Riband of Flat racing, how many on here will actually back him aware of the impending issues and the potential reasons (excuses?) already lined up should he disappoint?

The injury scare has made no difference to my Derby plans. I was not going to back Her Majesty’s horse but I will probably be siding with the Dante runner-up, as the York race was slowly run and I think that both horses will benefit from the step up to twelve furlongs.

If I am wrong, I hope that Carlton House can win for The Queen. We could have Sir Ryan Moore and Lord Michael Stoute in that event.

already backed it and will do so on the morning of the race.
I imagine it will shorten up considerably during the afternoon

there is no obvious alternative in my opinion

It's the worthy favourite but I believe anyone who is backing it is taking far to short a price, if this horse was owned by anyone else it would be 3/1, and what with the injury scare it would most likely have drifted to 4s or 9/2!

Horses such as Motivator and Authorised were far more impressive when winning the Dante yet weren't as short as CH is, even last year after Cape Blanco won the Dante he was only 4s for the Derby, and that was before they decided to go to France instead!

The price is ridiculous but I wouldn't mind seeing him win, il probably have an interest punt on Native Khan, but it's not a race to be betting heavily in:biggrin:

If Carlton House is okay, please god he is.....there is no-one else on stats that comes anywhere near him, its a one horse race if he's fit IMO and I've picked 6 of the last 8 winners. Its the one race I study for months over! Carlton House is the only horse in it if he isnt fit, then go for an outsider and try and get more for your money, cus anyone can win it. MY EW bet is Treasure Beach. Pour Moi is so short its unbelievable. No Horse since 1992 has won the derby and finished outside the top 2 in previous races as a 3 year old. Big stat IMO
