I can't see what changing the manager will do for us, it won't sort the lack of experience in the squad and our board are very poor at finding the right man, the manager of our club is basicly only a coach with little input into the buying of players. I think we should be looking for someone to work alongside Lennon and Lawwell as a bridge between, taking more control of the footballing budget from Lawwell and also being available for man management assistance. If a player has an issue with any of the current coaching staff at the moment they don't have someone to sort this problem Johan, Alan and Neil are always going to stick up for one another. Lennon would take the training and matches of the first team but the new guy would look at the longer term development and also work closely with the scouting team. Lennon would see it as a threat to his position and would resist, but I think it is for the best.
Lawwell needs to apoint a strong experienced coach and not a Yes man (what I believe Lennon is)... Lennon is out of his depth - he should have been Assitant to a more experienced manager for at least 3 season before he was given the job full time
There is no one man to blame for what is wrong with the Celtic team. Last season with a certain amount of flair and swagger almost the same Celtic team won freely. They scored freely and set up a record number of clean sheets. This season whilst missing Brown and Izzy they cannot pass the ball to each other. They cannot defend set pieces, or open play. They cannot control midfield, nor can the front men make room for themselves to put opposition under pressure. Against a poor Hibs team they could not force a corner. This Celtic team is a very young side, they fused together well last season and at least 9 of them should be because of their youth improving. I think this rubbish of a manager having lost the dressing room is purely a media made up phase. In thee real world it does not happen. These players play for themselves (aren't they professionals) some may have bought into the Celtic story, but if any are playing for Neil Lennon then they are the most useless of the lot. Players have to have pride in themselves, in their ability, in how they play their position or role, their team play and that is how they get their satisfaction. That is how they get their media right ups and awards at the end of seasons and new better contracts. Its not by playing for Neil Lennon.
'This isn't ra end. This is only ra beginnin'!' And 60k fannies bought into it. You are all Neil Lennon.
Tom/ Cat As I have said often, we don't have many options. Even if we wanted him to go, there would not be a sackful of applications for the job. At this stage, other managers would not touch the Celtic job with a barge pole. They would say last season the improvement in Celtic under Neil was massive. Won the cup and lost the league under mysterious circumstances by 2 points. That and the grief N. Lennon ,his wife and children had to suffer. All would say not normal in society in 21st century. Now Tom Cat I think it woulk make far more sense if all the supporters got behind the whole team and Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell because this is as good as we are going to get for some time. We have to do our best to get the team up to last year's standard. Now we know the team is nowhere near as good, what about the fans. Is it true that the team can play better away from home ? than home ! If so whose fault is it?
I think Lennon might have to go. I've supported him, but something's not right. The players don't seem bothered/interested. It might not be down to Lennon that they have got to that level ( it may well be down to him, but we cant be certain) but it sure is hell is his job to snap them out of it. It's not new either. It dates back to the 3-0 win over rangers last season. Since then it's been a downward spiral
I'll judge Lennon when he has Broon, Izzy, Wilson and one or two others fit and not before. Lest we forget he won the Cup last season, lost the league by a point and lost the league Cup final in extra time. That's not exactly flukey, so let's just have some patience and i'm sure we will bounce back given time.
I don't know what's gone wrong. I know we've had a fair few injuries to some key personnel but there seems to be a lack of effort at times by the players on the pitch. Even without players like Brown and Izzy we shouldn't be trailing the huns by 12 points and losing games at home to the likes of St Johnstone. The performance against Hibs there at the weekend was a shocker. No urgency, no passion, no drive. It looked like a team just going through the motions. The other problem is if we get rid of Lennon who do we replace him with? We can't attract a top boss to the SPL any more. Would O'Neill come back? I doubt it. We're not going to tempt the likes of Moyes or Lambert to leave the EPL. So who?
Terry Butcher - you are the man. Ya ****ing legend. You stuck it to them as a player and you've stuck it to them as a manager. You ever need any **** stabbed, I'm yer man.
Mr T normally I don't reply to an idiot but since you think you are an important idiot (by calling yourself Mr. .) I will give you the benefit of my knowledge. No league, not even the partial SPL is won and lost by one result. The league is as series of matches with the team who accumulates the most points wins the league. We all remember how Hearts fielded a weakened team, M'well did not try and Killie set up a party atmosphere even before the match and allowed the pressure off everyone by being 3 nil down inside 5 minutes. Remember t even you could not blieve it as you slunk round the corner hoping to see the match even though you are barred from every pub near you.
Thank you of the benefit of your knowledge. It has benefitted in helping me understand that you are a bitter wee man. 'Mr' makes me sound important? If I used my proper title it'd be Dr T. That would make me sound more important that Mr. All your team had to do was win the last remaining games after Rangers could only draw with you at Ibrox. Remember the McGregor save from the penalty won by a dive? Sammy the Bubble bottled it. You then went to Inverness and bottled it. The league was in your hands with a few games remaining and you bottled it. Rangers won the remaining games and the league. Irrespective of Rangers' results, all Celtic had to do was win a game in hand against a team in the wrong half of the league. Hardly 'mysterious' circumstances now is it?
Rangers had to win their remaining games !!!! Motherwell with ex Hun mccall in charge 5-0 was it , then Hearts rested half their team to play us despite being 3 points from qualifying for Europe 4-0 was it , then Kilmarnock in deepest Ayrshire 3-0 after 6 mins , Turkish football last season was found to be corrupt for a 4-3 scoreline last day of the season , why , why , does nobody look what goes on in our little sad country. Today three cricketers are going to jail for cheating!!!
OLd fool t doesn't understand the truth Harryhood67. If he came across the truth he would bring it into the police to test the veracity.
Are you both really this thick or WUMS? Celtic only had to beat ICT and Motherwell to win the league. If Celtic did this then Rangers could have won 10-0 against both teams and it would have counted for diddly squat. There was no mystery just that Celtic failed to beat ICT in Inverness. ICT failed to get into the top 6 and El Tel did a great job. ****ing pot lickers.
Celtic played teams trying as proved by ict , Rangers played teams not trying as proved by Motherwell , hearts and Kilmarnock . Since mccall took over at Motherwell his record is very good other than against one team who he has lost over 20 goals to. The ten team league came in 1975 , I can never recall any team being 3 up after 6 mins !!! mr shiels was a happyan that night , I see we have got another dodgy Irish manager in our league again today, how will intruduce his team to scottish football lose 7 0r 8 nil to Rangers !!!
