It seemed last year he did a press conference/ announcement just before a TV game or a big club. Is it something he's doing again to create a better atmosphere for these types of games?
Yes changing the name makes 1million a year.... Global news priceless..... The world is debating the change.... CTWD
No. Not at all. He's a spoilt, rich man. He's a man who believes his own bullshit. A man who believes his word is law. A man who, in his own words, knows nothing of football.
No he's just a dick. People need to stop desperately looking for ways to justify his nonsense. It's always some master plan of reverse psychology according to some. He's just a bit of a bellend but it's okay cos he's Egyptian and apparently it's just his culture to be a bellend.
I can agree with most of this, but it just seems coincidental each time he does it is just before a TV or big team game
There are that many threads on Mr Allam I am loath to start another one so I'll post my comment here. Firstly we cannot have it all. We have an owner who has taken us from the brink of extinction to the Premier League and Europe and who is now presiding over 10 million quid transfers to bring a better quality of football to the KC. Now, this would have all been very nice if Mr Allam was a lovable, genial person who the fans adored but, people who have had business transactions with him tell us that he is far from being "Mr Nice Guy" and can be a dead-set @rsehole when it comes business. To suggest that this bloke is a 'looney', 'drunk', a tw@t' or a 'bellend' when he has amassed over 250 million quid through his business dealings is just nonsense. His business acumen together with his 'bean-counters' has made him a formidable man in the business world. The fact that he has great difficulty expressing himself or that he comes across as the "Godfather" of Football Club Owners should not detract from where we are thanks to him. His "Frank Sinatra" approach to doing everything his way is because that is the way he is. There is no sentiment in business. He couldn't give a rat's @rse whether people like him or not but there is no doubt that he had a plan to take Hull City forward into a global entity as against local. He openly admits that he has little or no interest in football but that he wanted to do something for the Club. So far he has fulfilled his promises but cannot go any further until he puts the next phase of his plan into operation but is being restricted. His answer is quite simple in that if we don't want to go any further then he is out of here. He is very abrupt in his statements which hasn't endeared him to the fans but, like I said, we can't have it all. We've got a multi-million quid owner who has taken us this far but because he is not a likable bloke some are saying 'Well, leave your money and we'll look after the Club' whilst others are saying "Allam out"! He most certainly isn't looking for praise and/or adoration but wants to get on with the job he set out to do. We have come to a full stop so what is going to happen? I honestly cannot see big money buyers coming in for us as there are far better options elsewhere. Will he win his appeal for "Hull Tigers"? If so will the CTWD fans stop attending? I doubt it. I have supported since 1946 and have always referred to Hull City as "City" and I always will regardless of any name change as I believe thousands also will. Bit of a predicament for Mr Allam but he is the owner and should be given some respect for what he has achieved regardless of whether you agree with him or not. I most certainly would not like to see him pull out at this stage of the Clubs development as I fear the worst if he does.
A number of long standing City fans have already walked away. You won't stop attending. I will. When the name changes that's it. Luckily with Hull United there is an alternative team to support. The owner of Hull United may even put in an application to be called Hull City, as it will no longer exist.
I respect your opinion Obadiah and your right to choose to walk away but no name change will make me change my allegiance to the Football Club situated in Kingston Upon Hull. I believe that the Club, as a business, was registered as "Hull City Tigers" in the early 'naughties' by one Adam Pearson who didn't tell anyone of the change. The Club remained Hull City afc in the Football League however.
For a few brief weeks this board was all about exciting new signings and daring to dream now we're just back to the the same tired arguments we had last year time and time again
Then why comment Stockholm? Use the 'ignore' button in the profile or don't comment. The Club is going through the most exciting time in it's history with signings we wouldn't dare to dream of a decade ago at a cost of millions of pounds yet some are not satisfied and are 'doing an Allam' by throwing all their toys out of their pram because they don't agree with a name change. If they choose to walk away from the Club then who is 'cutting their nose off to spite their face' as they have accused Mr Allam of doing. I am sure the CTWD supporters will continue to cheer the side on with their chants about "CITY" rather than "Tigers" and I guess as time goes on they will gradually fade away like we all do. I neither agree nor disagree but if it was a case of Mr Allam calling an end to the progress we have made because there is to be no name change then it will be a sad day for us all.
It is really simple. For me I see Hull Tigers the same way I see Leeds United, it isn't my team. Hull City will cease to exist if the name changes. There is now an alternative team to support. If the name changes I take my money and watch Hull United. I don't lose anything, I'll still have a football team to support.
Ah, BUT will you be watching some of the finest footballers in the world? Simple answer NO! Hull "Tigers" or whatever will always be Hull CITY. The name change (IF it happens) will not change the City we play in, the KC Stadium, the colours we play in or our nickname that has been with us since 1904 - "The Tigers"!
Yes he did, it was common knowledge. It's irrelevant because it's simply the business name of the company running Hull City AFC.
I'll be supporting my football team. Hull Tigers won't be Hull City for me. I accept it will be for you but it won't be for me. Football isn't about watching the finest footballers its about supporting your club. It explains why thousands went to Boothferry Park rather than catching the coaches that could have taken them to Elland Road.
It's not all about watching the finest footballers - that is an added bonus which won't last forever. It's about being and feeling part of a club, a community, a shared identity. That will last forever. Or should.
Post of the day. And from there sprung the hatred of the dreaded "Hull Whites". Apparent "Leeds fans" though they were born, bred, raised and live in Hull. Us who endured the days of Boothferry seem to have more sentiment to our name, as it's been with us through thick and thin and shouldn't just be dropped like that.
If people are only interested in seeing the top footballers then they shouldn't be supporting Hull City. We've spent less then 5% of our history in the top division. I might be in minority our but I couldn't give a toss whether Stevie G is playing for other team or John Smith from Macclesfield signed for a Kit Kat and packets of Walkers Cheese and Onion crisps. To me it's about sharing a common bond with my best friend, it's about being part of something and feeling connected.
I said right from the start that I would not attend matches to watch a team play in Hull City colours. Assem Allam is right, Hull Tigers is a great global name, but it is not and should not be what Hull City becomes. Great posts Obi, I would not be watching Hull United, it would choke me to shout c'mom un.......no I can't even post it.
