Since our bid was tabled Saturday nobody seems to know if AJ has been up here, spoken to Martin O'Neill etc.

Is it the case that AJ is keeping his options open to see who will come in for him. Rumours of other clubs etc but none are champions league teams, is he hoping for one to come on for him.

Clearly this next move is big for AJ however would a couple of years with us not propel him to the England set up like Bent.

I have a feeling this will go down to deadline day and we will only get him if the bigger fish don't bite.

Just hoping we don't get kicked in the teeth with this.

Ive heard that he wants Liverpool, but Liverpool it would seem are not interested in him, please see my other post I am aware that he has had an 'active' nightlife in Liverpool whilst at City and perhaps that is the attraction, but in a two horse race with us and Spurs, I'd wager he will opt for the bright lights of London..which would be bloody outragious in my humble opinion

We're a chance, but let's face it, we're underdogs. My best guess is that we're a 30% chance overall. No biggie if we don't get him - we never would have had a chance 3-5 years ago. But if we do...

Nowt wrong with eying up your options. This is the most crucial move in his career. At 24/25 and a 3 or 4 year deal in the offing, he has to be sure.

The details of his contract will be complicated as I reckon he will want the option to have a buy out clause no doubt? If so, we are likely to want that to be very high.

I think this is 60/40 in our favour between Liverpool & Spurs.

    Just.

This is a signing that would excite me mind, frankly I have not got a clue whether or not he will come to Sunderland. His first pref I suppose would be CL club in the uk but that is unlikely. Spuds have Bale and Lennon so no guaranteed start there, the bin dippers need a goal scorer and they already have Downing so I would have thought their priority is a striker.

But will he come to Sunderland?

He probably is, and to be fair it's a big move for him. Have a feeling we may get him though. His family are SAFC mad, he knows the area already knows people at the club (good mates with Catts).

All stacks up in our favour.

I'm cautious about this and not building my hopes up. Huge bonus if it comes off.

Have to say I'm fairly happy with the recent links to players. Would be great if the links become players.

I got my nephew the waiting game for Christmas, he's still playing it now.

I expect him to be wearing SAFC colours by the end of August.
