Emre Can as the DM, with Allen and Henderson in front of him would be the best midfield for me <ok>

Lallana is playing well after a few shaky performances though. Be hard to drop him at the moment. Unles you play him at the top of the diamond and drop Sterling/Coutinho?

Lallana has not played in midfield, he's played wide left.

Keep Balotelli on the bench and play Lallana and Sterling either side of Sturridge. Lots of skill, craft and potential.

    No...

We play best at the moment 442 diamond. Sturridge struggles upfront on his own as he lacks support and he makes runs and vacates the central area. It worked having 2 last year as one would make the run, one would stay central. Get Balotelli and Sturridge playing together like they did against Spurs.

  5. As much as I dislike the idea of having any of Balotelli, Lambert or Borini as art of our attacking pair, the diamond is the system that works best for us so one of them must play. If we get him to perform like he did in the final half hour yesterday then I'd pick Balotelli. Problem is, he's never going to perform like that every game (I also see that as a minimal expectation performance rather than peak). with that in mind, I'd go with the following team when everyone is fit and available:

    Migs
    Flanno* - Skrtel - Lovren - Moreno
    Gerrard
    Hendo - - - - - Lallana
    Sterling
    Balotelli - Sturridge

    * this could be Mankiller or Flanno. I'd go with the latter because he is a local scouse lad who is clearly the favoured member of the squad :p

Lallana and Sterling will support Sturridge though.

Before Sturridge got injured we had Coutinho and Sterling support Sturridge. Sterling was making good runs when Sturridge dropped wide, but could not do it every time, so a second person also needs to be doing it. I believe Lallana can be that person and he can score goals to.

    Lallana is very versatile.

I would be inclined to play Lallana at the tip of the diamond with Sterling and Sturridge up top - would be a nice experiment.

I think Lallana needs to be playing higher up the pitch in order to get the best out of him.

I rather Coutinho plays in the CM and rotates with Allen depending on the situation/match. Lallana and Sterling could rotate for the number 10 role, and Sterling could rotate with Balotelli for the partner of Sturridge.

Either way - get the diamond back :D

How about to keep fair we agree that none of them play and play Markovic behind Balotelli and Lambert. ;)

lallana's got some work rate but he's lightweight too. in general you want a player like that in and aorund the front man like he intechanged with lambert. that goal is a first " southampton gift" to us. if balotelli or sturridge had got that little pass there was no way it was going back to lallana to score. thats knowing each other right there.

for me we just need to get everyone closer together to play interchange. gerrard got close to balotelli.. the lad instantly looked better.

    Sterling needs a rest.

    etc etc

the team greez posted above is basically getting towards the best we can do... coutinho needs a lot more work rate put in to get his game for me and then I'd simply rotate sterling and lallana and add allen in there too... until jan 1 comes around thats all we can do.

oh and flanagan is phooked. manquillo and jonhson will rotate this year and wisdom will be back next year i hope.

  10. True but I'd also point out that Balotelli and Sturridge are both ball greedy too, they never give the ball back immediately, they both want at least three or four touches first.

    PS...Southampton "£29m" gift <laugh>

Johnson will be gone soon and Flanno is good back up/squad player for both flanks.

Enrique and Johnson are the ones who are f*cked. <ok>

It really depends how large the contract is. If it is over 500 man hours or 30 days then CDM is required by law.

    Here is a handy link

I assume we are talking building work here or have I got the wrong end of the stick again????

A lop sided system could work well for us to with the players we have. If every one interchanges I also have no issue with a front three of Sturridge, Sterling and Lallana in a diamond formation.

    ------------Mignoley
    -----Skrtel---------Lovren------
    ------------Gerrard--------------
    Manquillo-----Allen----Moreno--
    ---------Henderson---------------
    --------Sterling--------------------
    --------------------Lallana---------
    -------Sturridge--------------------

Its just a normal diamond really. But with attacking full backs and the Lallana and Sturridge drifting to and from wide that is how it will often look.
