Given the money spent, yes net spend wasn't anywhere near the figures the media have plastered all over the place, is 8th and a League Cup enough for a club that really should be fighting for CL/EPL

Not the most original thread is it?

    Obviously no is the answer.

I suspect 4th isn't great considering where you were not so long ago.

    23mil net spend.

8th isn't good enough though. No where near good enough - glad we can regroup in the summer and come back stronger <ok>

Nope, 4th isn't really good enough. But that's progress in itself. Being disappointed with 4th is a good thing surely? Under the new ownership, I'm sure L'pool will be back there, although smarter signings (something we're guilty of too) might be needed

    8th is not good enough.

But some of our signings have been young players who look capable of bright futures. So thnking long term, the net spend is not so bad.

    We over spent on Downing.

Every now and then, Everton have a good season by their standards and we have a crap one. It won't happen next season, so I don't really care too much about being behind them.

What is the difference between 4th + Europa league & 8th + Carling cup + Europa league? Nothing really, and it could happen to you.

    No! However we have'

    1) Revamped the squad, getting rid of either the dross, the deadwood or the uncommitted!
    2) Replaced with young, mostly hungry players who have years of service ahead of them, however only if they continuously improve like Carrol recently has
    3) Been f^^^^^^ unlucky
    4) Mostly played excellent football and without a doubt deserved more for our efforts, competing well against the top sides which shows the potential we have. Also shows perhaps the hunger and desire because without doubt our squad is still way short of the top five teams, improving but still a way off yet.
    5) Had to contend with the whole Suarez fiasco; many of the players will never have or will again have to endure the disruption this caused; lets not forget the media circus that has hovered over the club this season. The pressure the players have been under has hurt us I think, however it will make us stronger for next season.
    6) Loss of key players, Lucas for most of the season, Suarez, Adam, Gerrard who in actual fact has been poor this season. **** happens but sometimes hit hurts you and sometimes it doesn't, this season it hurt us big time!

So definately NO to the question but there have been some improvements and a lot of mitigating circumstances.

Do any of you LFC supporters remember posting this crap anywhere every season when spurs finished 8th 9th 10th every year

Di you go on their boards when Ramos almost got them relegated..?

I think not, these oh I am not wumming threads are sad, they run back to teir own boards boasting of how they wummed everyone.

8th not good enough. EL not good enough either.

But lets face it, 4th is not football success, it is a financial bonus, Spurs have won nowt and if the CL was not a factor Liverpools season would have been more successful than Arsenal and Spurs and United as far as winning anything is concerned. The CL money changes all of that
