We all know hes a great player and would be superb in our midfield along side Carrick etc however he is 27 and £35m is a bit steep IMO, id prefer Nasri as hes younger and wont take too long adapting as he already plays in the PL, if Andy Carroll was £35m then effectively Schneider is worth £80-100m, thoughts on Wesley and isnt there better for less and maybe purchase two midfielders?

Well good thing that Carroll was worth nowhere near that isn't it? Just because Liverpool or City play ridiculously over the odds for players doesn't mean we should.

And yes, Sneijder (it's not that difficult to spell) is absolutely worth that. 27 isn't really _that_ old, you talk about him like he was on his last legs. And he's a brilliant player who'd fit the bill perfectly

And just because a player hasn't played in the PL doesn't necessarily mean he'll take ages to adapt. See Hernandez for example.

let's face it may be morte than £35 to land him.

And if he doesn't come, then there isn't another option available.

so yes he is worth the money

27 is basically the beginning of your 'prime.' He has another 5 years before his legs start giving up on him but a key point is, he doesn't rely on his legs and fitness. Similar to Scholes he uses his skill, vision and passing ability more than his pace and fitness meaning he should be able to play on into mid 30's.

He's currently just about the best player in his position.
If we want to bridge the gap to Barcelona we have to develop world-class players or buy them.
Sneijder alone won't bridge the gap but he's worth the money.

Bit too offensive for my liking, I'd prefer this:

    ----------------De Gea

    ---Rafael---Ferdinand---Vidic---Evra

    -------Fletcher ------Carrick

    Nani -------Sneijder ------ Young

    ------------Rooney

Why? What has age got to do with anything? Giggs has shown that if you are good enough, you are old enough. And that works with "older" and "young" players.

If they are the right players, they will perform.

£35 million over five years works out at £7 million per year
Each round in the CL is worth about £7 million in bonuses, gate money and market pool payments
Each extra place in the PL is worth about £5 million in bonuses and CL market pool payments
    Every trophy is priceless

So if Sneijder helps us get one round further in the CL each year and do better in the PL he will be worth every penny of the £35 million. And if he helps us to CL4 or PL20 he'll be priceless :)

I'm thinking Gill was in Milan yesterday, popped over for that meeting in Zurich and could now be back in Milan ready for ongoing negotiation's tommorow.

    I'm hoping anyway :D
