    Hi Brixton
yes I've been on that site, looks good and professionally run.
Interesting idea about the flag;I saw acouple of flags draped over the stand at the Leeds game.
Do you think they add to the atmosphere at the game or can they be a pain in the butt?

London is world famous for being a cosmopolitan hub -twins, and west London has long been a popular centre for the Irish.

Personally, I welcome the flying / posting of any flag that supports the cause of us Rs. It's highly decorative and suggests universal popularity and recognition for the club as well national pride and global unity which is what makes such an appealing and refreshing alternative to the political bollocks that so wrongly divides people, and ordinary people in particular.

If we can't have our different flags, I s'pose we'd better do away with passports, accents, languages and mums and dads too! We can't help our differences so why not openly celebrate them in an all inclusive way as happens in sport?

    Beautifully put Brixton.
Are you actually living in Brixton?
I used to live in Clapham back in the mists of time and many a Saturday night I could be seen scuttered meandering along Stockwell Road on my way back from Brixton - the Blue Lagoon was a favourite haunt and we practically lived in the Two Brewers in Clapham.
Haven't been back for a few years now but aim to do so in the not too distant future.

    -twins,

I live at the top of Brixton Hill and love the area for all the cosmo reasons mentioned above. Apart from the various black communities we've long been synonymous with, we've also got significant English, Irish, Portugese and Spanish components, all living quite comfortably alongside each other. As I'm sure you know, international sporting events invariably lift the tempo in these parts, especially when one of our local nations is up against another!

Examples of this are the Windies against England at the Oval (we always consider this fixture a Windies home game for obvious reasons!); and England playing Nigeria, Ghana, Portugal, Eire and even Turkey in football - the after match postmortems in our pubs, bars, euro-cafes and kebab shops are to die for!

What I particularly like about our area is that when their original nation ain't involved, everyone magnanimously backs England - instead of contemtuously knocking them as so often happens elsewhere.

As far as flags are concerned, you see all types flying from cars and windows... I'll never forget the World Cup where the Reggae Boys qualified. What a scream that was - a Rasta shop up frontline proudly displayed the English and Irish flags alongside the Jamaican one! It so works - hence my earlier reply to yours.

As for Clapham, I worked in one of the shops on the High Street for 15 years. Lived on Landor Road for some time and so a plod (and occasionally a meander as you put it) between the Brixton Academy and the Swan Stockwell was a regular occurence!

And as for the Two Brewers, know it well. A well run establishment and customers of our cab company for years.
