Brighton - who almost had Kieran McKenna in the dug-out this season - have already put one East Anglian side to the sword this week, with an emphatic 4-0 drubbing against that lot up the road. A Brighton win tomorrow night would help reverse the Seagulls' recent poor form. They last won a league game on the 23rd November. Since then, they've lost two and drawn six (including their last four league games). The bookies are backing Brighton, somewhat unsurprisingly given the quality and depth of squad you naturally get after spending several seasons in the top flight. But after getting our first home win against Chelsea recently, I'm quietly optimistic we can play with a bit more freedom and confidence. Godfrey can potentially to come into the team, but Kieran might not want to upset a fairly settled side that has reeled off a few impressive performances with the tweaked formation. It's a tough one to call, but I'm being optimistic. A narrow 2-1 Ipswich win.
If we play with the same fluency and robust defense, and keep up the confidence after recent performances, I am sure we can clip the seagulls wings. 2-1 Town. Up to 17th we go.
Hard to call the team Thursday, so many played well in the Cup. Walton O'Shea Wolf Greaves Davis Morsy Phillips Burns Broadhead Clarke Delap I think Woolfy deserves to start, as does Phillips.
Good line up, but I’d like us to stick with the more defensively solid formation we’ve been using recently. Problem is we’ve got so many injuries for that number 10 position with Hutchinson, Szmodics, and Chaplin all possibly out injured. Walton O’Shea Woolfenden Greaves Burns Morsy Cajuste Davis Broadhead Jack Clarke Delap That way at least we’ve got the option to switch to your attacking three behind Delap (Burns, Broadhead, and Clarke). Pretty much same line-up as yours Gaffer, but I’d definitely have Cajuste starting ahead of Phillips. If Chaplin or Hutchinson are fit, play one instead of Jack Clarke and switch Burns out for Johnson.
Well, what a great night of results! It’s now in our hands so lets hope we can get something from this evening. Gotta be similar tactic with strong defense, low block and swift counter attacks. And Philo is now a Town boy! Big boost to our squad. Just a striker now please, like every other club.
Leicester, Wolves, and Everton all lost last night so if ever the boys needed an incentive to win tonight they've got it.
I think Everton will come good. If we carry on the form of the second quarter and not the first quarter I think we will be fine. I’d like to see us in the pack with Man United and Palace so when the later games in the season come around against the sides battling the pressure is all on our opponents. If we beat Brighton this evening they are looking like sucked into the relegation battle themselves.
Interesting to see who he'll go with in the back line, it's really tough but I think he'll go with this seasons signings. Feel for Burgess and Woolfenden who I think have both been outstanding, in Burgesses case I think he's been in better form than Greaves so would deserve a start and Woolfended just adds another dimension on the ball which others don't. I really like O'Shea but hes a proper CB and don't think gives us enough quality on the ball if playing wide right of a 3..hence why McKenna has brought Godfrey in. I'm not sure I could call it at the back Woolfenden, O'Shea and Burgess have been outstanding and Greaves has shown good signs but Godfrey add something extra down the right. I reckon McKenna will start Phillips and Morsy tonight as remember Phillips can't play on Sunday so I'd imagine he will want to keep Cajuste as fresh as possible. On the face of it I'd play Morsy and Cajuste as they have shown they compliment each other and I need to see more from Phillips before he starts.
Can see this being another Fulham.. we'll be 1-0 and 2-1 but they'll get a late equaliser. O'shea and Morsy to score Edit.....Burns to score instead of morsy
Can't believe some of you thought Cajuste shouldn't start, he's our best midfielder!! Town 3-1 Brighton
