Okay its now officially Squeaky Bum Time after the "shock" results from Tuesday night meaning that we are now only 4 points off the bottom 3. A big game awaits us on Saturday and we badly need to win to avoid being pulled further into the mire but we are at home so it won't be easy! Boro are very beatable and we just need that spark of creativity that we have been so badly lacking in recent games. My prediction is Town 2 Boro 1 My Line up would be: Loach, Chambers, Stearman, Tommy, Cressy, N'Daw, Hyam, Wordsworth, McGoldrick, Murphs, DJ (Fingers and everything else crossed!) 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 being most likely Bench : Chops, ALB, McClean, Nouble, Kisnorbo What do ya reckon then boys?
If we perform anything like we did in the second half at Bristol then weve no chance, but if MM rings the changes as youve suggested and the boys give nothing less than 100% then as you say Boro are beatable.
It must have been one hell of journey for you FM last Saturday! Big respect for you and the 800 others who made that long trip to witness that load of garbage!
Warky, yes a must-win game. We all like the new signings..but where does the DJ rumour come from? If true, I will be really pleased as said all along that he's been the best thing to happen for ITFC for many a long grey month! He has made my occasional trip up Suffolk way good value for money!
2-1 Town Back five same as JWM. Edwards, N'Daw, Wordy, Martin McG, Nouble. This is a prediction of what Mick might do, not what I would do. I said before that we play better against teams who are above us so I expect us to pick points up from games we are not expected to win. The Ipswich Way = The Hard Way
2-2....we will throw a lead away again.. Team; ....................Loach Hewitt Stearman Chambers Smith ................Ndaw Hyam .......Martin Wordsworth Cressy .................McGoldrick Bench; ALB Kisnorbo JET Drury Edwards Murphy Nouble
I'm pretty much with you warky. But I'd like to see murph and chops up top and mcgoldrick just behind. As for the dj thing gaffer just seen on sky he's in talks with hull. Bugger. Cos we'd all have him back. Come on ME open your cheque book. Quick.
I think I'd go for either a 4231 Loach Hewitt, Stearman, Smith, Creswell Hyam, N'Daw Martin, JET, Wordsworth Nouble or 442 Loach Hewitt, Stearman, Smith, Creswell Martin, Drury, N'Daw, Wordsworth Chopra, Murphy but I don't think Mick will change it that much, I don't think he'll put Wordsworth in straight away, I think he'll go for 442: Loach, Stearman, Chambers, Smith, Creswell Edwards, Hyam, N'Daw, Martin McGoldrick, Murphy
Well considering Murphy was our one good player saturday at Bristol City, fair to say he'll start !!! I think Wordsworth from the bench, I can see McCarthy keeping it quite tight early on. Perhaps he can come on with us 2-1 down like Currie did at Loftus Road that day, run the show and we win 4-2 !? Loach Steerman / Smith / Chambers / Cressy Edwards / N'daw / Drury / Martin McGol ( needs a goal ) Murphy. " This is a prediction of what Mick might do, not what I would do. " Gonna say I don't think you're very good at predictions, seeing as Nouble played zero minutes at Ashton Gate. How is he going to go straight into the lineup!?
I think we'll line up 4-5-1 with Hyam, N'Daw and Wordsworth involved. McGoldrick loan striker with Murphy out wide.
I cant see MM going with anything other than a 442. Its not what I would go with but he seems very keen on that formation and I cant see him having worked since hes been here on 442 suddenly experimenting. I cant see that we are in for DJ either unfortunately. If we are then why did we bring in 3 other strikers in this transfer window and only allow 1 to leave, unless we are quietly pushing Chopra out of the door. It would seem a strange move to see us have 5 strikers in the squad yet only 3 established CM's for example. If we did get DJ back it would give me more confidence as I dont currently see us being a team that will score 2 or 3 in a match without him. The last few home matches against poor opposition have seen us play woefully so Im not as confident as others on a win. Boro are a decent team so would settle for a point although would love to see us get 3 and hopefully move 2 or 3 places up the table.
Tractor bhoy I agree with literally 100% of that, spot on! Mick is a 4-4-2 man for sure. Murphy is cack out wide, but probably our most useful striker at present.
Boro fan here, who's watched many a Ipswich game including Dyers debut..... This is a very interesting game and I think its going to be very tight.. Boro have not played that well since xmas and are in need of a win to keep in the running for auto promotion... The problem seems to be a lack of width and Mowbray playing his strikers out wide. We keep the ball very well and pass it around a lot, but seem to lack the killer ball penetration at the moment and lack players i the box to get on the end of crosses. You can see where Dyer fits in, playing RM/W although we have a problem with Hoyte our RB being out injured and its rumoured Dyer might play at RB. Like a lot of Ipswich supporters on this boards theres quite a bit of fan opposition to Dyer, but we've been told he's on a 10k a game deal until the end of the season. If injured he doesn't get paid. If uninjured, I think he could be a really outstanding bit of business for Boro, he will be a fantastic player at this level. Carayol our flying LW has been out seriously injured since September but might return to the bench for saturday and get a 20min run out.. M'bro these days has the feel of Ipswich Town in the Cobbold era.. The Youth Academy is excellent (there maybe 4 or 5 players in the team that have come through the academy), we have an excellent chairman who really supports the club and in Tony Mowbray a manager top manager who really loves the club and the fans love him.. supported by Mark Venus and Jamie Clapham.. We get quite a good away support.. so expect 1500 - 2000 away fans.... In terms of a result. I'm going for a 1-1 draw.. but I might have a sneaky £1 bet on boro sneaking a 1-2 win.... Glad to see Ipswich got rid of that joker Jewell - MM is an excellent manager and I expect ITFC to the there or there abouts for promotion next season.
