With a fourth consecutive season in League One, we really need a promotion campaign, right? Last season’s transformative transfer business looked good on paper - with some brilliant first team additions in Walton, Edmundson, Burns, and Morsy - but several issues hampered the team. Most notably, the time required for a new team to gel, but not forgetting Paul Cook’s underwhelming inconsistency with the squad, a limited tactical awareness, and an emphasis on playing with the same formation. Improvement under McKenna was noticeable to begin with, but a lack of creativity and effectiveness up front, as well as McKenna needing to get comfortable with first team management led to another underwhelming season for Ipswich. This was not helped with a competitive top eight, where Plymouth (7th) and Oxford (8th) recorded points totals which would have guaranteed them play off football in almost any other season in League One. Despite three years in this division, we have not finished above ninth. We are still a big name side, often lumped in with pre-season promotion contenders, but the club almost has an innate habit of letting the pressure get to us. McKenna has had a full pre-season to implement his vision and style of play with these players and the transfer business has aimed at improving positions where we were previously weak (such as left-back). So, to keep with recent tradition, what are your predictions for the season ahead? 1. Where will we finish in the table (if 3rd to 6th, will we get promoted)? 3rd (yes) 2. Who will be our top goalscorer and how many will he score? Ladapo (14 goals) 3. Who will be our player of the season? George Edmundson 4. Who will be the flop of the season? Tyreece John-Jules 5. Will McKenna still be our manager at the end of the season? Yes. 6. Will we have a deep cup run in any of the cup competitions? The league should remain our highest priority, but I can see us reaching the EFL Trophy semi-finals. 7. Who will win League One this season (if you haven’t put Ipswich as 1st?) Peterborough United.

Good luck for the season Bluesters. I think you could make second spot with a bit of luck. Next derby October '23?
Probably best to make that October ‘24, presuming you win the Championship again this season but get relegated the season after
Maths isn’t my strong point, but October ‘22 (Championship), October ‘23 (Premier League), and October ‘24 (Championship again) works out, doesn’t it?
