This is very true I have discovered. Just not that lot down the road. They have applied, and failed, three times so far. Sunderland, Preston, Wolverhampton and Brighton being elevated. But Ipswich, Queensland, Australia, has been a City since 1904. Would they change their name if elevated? And add a star to their shirts? It doesn't bear thinking about.
 
Delap will probably leave as is rumoured. As you state, there are likely to be others. At the same time, we are likely to lose some of our better players as well.
