Apparently he is guilty of tax fraud and this is his punishment

Messi could be left all alone without any competition whatsoever for the Golden Boot in La Liga...now that Falcao (confirmed) and Ronaldo (high likelihood) have departed

Great player that he unquestionably is, I'm tiring of Messi, as I already have with Barcelona.

I'd like to see what he could do elsewhere, but I doubt he has the balls to try. Still, I guess it's fair to ask why he'd bother.

It will be interesting to see how the dynamic of the team changes with Neymar's arrival. Can't exactly see him allowing Messi to take EVERY penalty and a lot of Barca's play last season revolved around providing chance after chance for Messi. If he has to share the centre stage, there is no way he will hit the same goalscoring heights of the last 2 seasons

Ronaldo on the other hand, when I was watching Madrid play, scored a lot of his goals either through personal creation (running directly at the defence), insane ball anticipation skills (especially headers), stunning free kicks and of course, the inevitable penalties. It is noticable that all of the Real Madrid front 5 are more than happy to shoot at goal, whereas Barca, only Iniesta and Messi fulfull that role. Yet, despite being provided with less chances, Ronaldo maintains an incredible goalscoring record.

Fair points, and I think the signing of Neymar probably moves Barcelona closer to the description of Real Madrid you just gave. If they've got another player capable of doing even close to what Messi does, they're going to be far harder to contain.

Well if he gets a huge fine I'm sure Ipswich would loan him the money to pay it

Just think whatever prison Messi ends up in Spain the prison football team will be rubbing their hands together like hell!

Might have centre backs that make Pepe and Roy Keane look like saints though.
