With some notable posters leaving us recently I have posted a thread on the Swans board entitled 'Let's all try to get along or we will be losing good posters'. I have, maybe foolishly, tried to get to the bottom of recent hostilities and appealed for some common sense. I am not taking sides in this, get along splendidly with most Cardiff posters, just want to see if we can, not so much get along, but be objective so that we can just talk about football! The content of my post on the Swans board can be read below. 'Have posted something like this on another thread but it was lost amidst all the childish bickering between Jacks and Bluebirds. Some of the recent threads have descended into slanging matches and this board is becoming a bit of a laughing stock amongst the posters in the wider community of Not606. Must admit it has been compelling in a 'car crash' sort of way, but the bitterness is quite astonishing. And all this 'he said, she said' stuff is crass in the extreme. I guess that some of us are never going to get along but let's get a bit of perspective - this is just a board for discussing the game of football - an entertaining diversion, but not all that important in the grand scheme of things. What is more disturbing is that a lot of the comments I have read are using football as a subtext for general Swansea/Cardiff hatred! Some of it is dressed up in some of the most dubious arguments I have heard. OK, Cardiff as a city get the lions share of investment, but that is not the fault of the people of Cardiff, but the politicians we vote into office. The westminster government have been screwing the Welsh for centuries but I don't see any of this bile directed at the 'Chelsea/Arsenal/Spurs/etc, etc' boards! So why are Cardiff so hated? Have always been open about the fact that I have no axe to grind one way or the other, so what is the problem? It can't be just football or politics because the average guy from Cardiff is exactly the same as us - just an average guy who has no power to affect the 'big picture' one way or the other. Is it hereditary - my Dad hates Cardiff so I hate Cardiff? If this is the case we are in danger of handing on our prejudices to the next generation, and the next, a vicious circle that will accomplish nothing but misery. We are soon to embark on a season in the top flight with our neighbours up the M4; I for one am really looking forward to it, and to having conversations and banter on this forum, but I am getting increasingly worried that any discussion of merit will soon be dragged into the gutter. I know that there are Cardiff posters who come across to WUM, but some of our lot are just as bad, and I can't believe how hostile, and sensitive/paranoid, some of us are every time a Cardiff poster makes the most innocent of comments on a thread. Both boards have lost some long standing posters because of this bull**** and this board is beginning to veer worryingly toward a police state with the talk (thankfully outvoted at the minute) of blanket bans! I know there is a great history of rivalry between our two clubs, but why must it constantly descend into pathetic school-yard taunting! It really is far more noble, and less tiring, to at least try and get on! So come on over and let's thrash this out - those of you who know me will understand that I am not a one eyed Jack - I am genuinely pleased with your recent success and believe you will be a success in the top flight!
Hi cartoonhead, I've been across to put my point of view but the thread is closed, so it looks like the problem is with the Swans. It's a pity really, because I have no hatred for almost all the Swans fans and would like the banter between both boards to be just that banter. There could be some fruitful and meaningful debate between us but alas it looks like that wont happen. There is now posted on this board that "legal action is also being taken by a member over his racist remarks eg pikie, gypo etc" Should we all now trawl though every thread for reasons to take legal action? If this happens it could be the end of not606.

I believe the thread was closed by the mods (with all due respect to Cartoon) because the subject had already been done to death on another thread posted by a Cardiff fan. Said thread degenerated quickly ino name-calling, wumming and general abuse, originating from the OP but responded to (understandably) by Jacks - it's our board after all. That thread has also now been closed. I believe both were perceived as open invitations to your usual suspects to re-hash age-old arguments that we've already seen resurface - you know, the ones relating to creditors 10 years ago, etc. etc. All very tiresome. No offence and good night.
Cheers Blue - am quite gobsmacked! Thought the thread may be a platform for some meaningful discussion but apparently I am just a number! Get on quite well with you guys and seems I am being ostracised by the great and the good for having the audacity to suggest that maybe, just maybe, Jack posters can be a little sensitive at times! Shock fecking horror!
KJ - it's a forum that I was under the mistaken impression that was open to all! Am not comfortable with censorship, especially when it is decided by others! Have come to realise that some on the Swans board are far more important than others - I, unfortunately, am not seen as important enough to have an opinion of my own! Sad state of affairs!
Not my call, Cartoon and as you know I have a history of opposing censorship on our board. Along with others I did suggest that the threads be closed for the above reasons. It was identical in tone and content to Sparkey's - and you saw how that one turned out. If you have an issue with closure, take it up with the mods. They can reopen it and let the carnage resume.
Lost faith in the mods KJ - they obviously have their own agendas and the Swans board has unfortunately become an 'Old Boys' network! Get with the programme or get lost - there is no room for dissension and anyone not towing the party line will be ostracised! Will now just focus my efforts on the ATFV fanzine and the charity work and find a forum where discussion is actively encouraged.

Nice try cartoonhead. I appreciate your efforts in trying to calm down some of the recent nonsense on here. I thought I lived in the U.K. but apparently it's more like North Korea with the level of censorship. What started out as a football forum is being wrecked by a few 'swivel eyed loons'. Once again nice try.
Yep - do recall that KJ - but am so pissed off that what could be a great forum is spoilt by children who throw their toys out of the pram if someone dares to disagree with their narrow minded view of the world! Have always stressed to my students that the opinions of others should be taken into consideration when embarking upon a debate! The Swans board is not one that values the freedom of speech, it is populated by sycophants that will denigrate any opinion that doesn't conform to the status quo! Am a Jack through and through but, to be honest, get more constructive feedback from the guys on the Cardiff board!
Well said. To be fair I think most on the Swansea board agree with you. Just you have the balls to say it. Post on this site and just take and give the banter.
Hilts - Think that you are right! Have posted here on many occasions and have been shown nothing but respect - sad that I can't get that on my own board! Still a Jack though - wanna beat you next season! Learnt my lesson on the Swans board, just dominated by a few individuals with their own agendas - hope you realise that it is in no way representative of the views of proper Swansea fans! Is just a comfy little club of keyboard warriors! Totally pissed off with them to be honest!
Most on that site take and give it. Some top people on there. Sadly some have a different agenda. Anyway time for Froch v Kessler.
Most Swansea posters are fair minded, quite a few like some banter but there is a small minority who are so blinkered that it hinders their thought process. Not to say we have some on this board too. Sad times.
Cartoonhead! Your thread title is quite refreshing to see and I applaud you for having the courage to post it when you know the potential repercussions from the clique. Sadly most Bluebirds will steer well clear having read Musty's comment about legal action being proposed against one of our posters. Maybe one of the other mods on your board will clarify if this is in fact the case.
