Now that KM has gone do you think the board will change their mind over the policy of cutting back

Are they going to go for someone like Dave Jones who would expect a certain level of investment every season or are the board going to go for a younger manager from a lower league that has a point to prove?

Personally I would like to see a manager like Tisdale, done very well at Exeter and deserves a chance at a higher level.

However, if the board now appoint Wigley as manager later on today I will be completely inconsolable!

yeah great idea, sack a manager who got a team bottom of the championship and replace him with one whos got a team bottom of league 1 <doh>

we need a proven championship manager, Jones is a must

Karl Robinson (MK Dons) and Lee Clark of Huddersfield are also on the bookies list. Clark has done very well and Huddersfield are unbeaten in 30 odd games but neither he or Robinson have Championship experience and I dont think either of them will be considered at this point, nor will Tisdale.

Shiny, he took a team that was non-league to 8th in league 1 in 5 years while spending practically nothing whatsoever. That is a far greater achievement than Jones who, depsite having Bellamy etc on huge wages, still couldn't get out of this league. There is actually more to football than what team the manager comes from believe it or not...

Lee Clarke would also be a good shout, some of the managers that are doing well atm like Poyet, Adkins, Lambert all made their name in league 1 which they carried through with them. I think 'experience' of the championship is not that important, just the relative achievements with each club.

Jambo - Don't like to interrupt when you are in full flow but Dave Jones took us from a not too dissimilar position that you are now in and turned us into one of the most consistent clubs in the division. granted he ultimatley failed in his quest to get us promoted but under his stewardship we went from selling off our best players en-masse to actually being able to sign players like Chopra, Burke, Bothroyd etc (Bellamy was a one off deal and supposedly paid for by the Chairman personally), getting to an FA Cup Final and 2 play-offs in recent years.... still whilst selling the likes of Glen Loovens, Roger Johnson, Aaron Ramsey and losing Joe Ledley and Adam Matthews....

Plus take into account our average gates went from around 10k to around 18k at Ninian Park and then to 20k+ at the CCS, plus he got Wolves promoted, he is actually a good manager at this level.

lol i think you posted while I was editing it. Yeah I know it was a bit overly harsh on him to be honest. After writing it I looked at his other jobs and he does seem to have done well at the other teams he's managed, just a bit before when I started paying attention as I was 10 when he took the managers job at Wolves!

Ah, yeah, that'd account for a lot of it! <laugh> Boy do I feel old now

I honestly think he'd be an excellent choice, despite his "failure" with us he managed us through plenty of uncertain times, winding up petitions, tax issues, player sales and still kept us very competitive <ok>

Saying that, I don't really want to see you lot do too well either (despite my missus being a Robin) so finger crossed Sextone appoints Steve Wigley :emoticon-0116-evilg

To be honest, it would be hilarious to read some of the articles posted on here if Wigley did get the job.

I thought your lot would get promoted so many times with DJ in charge but just always seemed to go through a patch of bad form at just the wrong time. Any players you think he'd try and get in from yourselves if he did get the job?

Surprised to see Stuart Pearce as 3rd favourite, would be an interesting appointment and i'd imagine he has a wealth of contacts with young prem players to possibly loan. But then again, no experience at club level at all.

Ammount of investment that BC will make should become clear depending on what manager comes in.

Jones would no doubt want some guarantees about future investment, but he has a fine record in this league, don't think he would get many from Cardiff, as most have been scattered to the wind over the summer.

Pearce would be very interesting and I rate him quite highly.

To be honest we've had such a large turnover in players that I don't think there are many left that he would want/would be tempted to leave.

About the only ones would be some "old favourites" such as Lee Naylor and Steve McPhail... and in all honesty i don't think either would improve what you have there.

Lee Clarke would take a lot of persuading to come here. He probably thinks (not unreasonably) that he is at a bigger club than we are and the chances are he will be in the NPC next year playing in front of bigger crowds....
