When we bought the club, it was in a dire financial situation. The bailiffs were at the door, and others were on their way. There was no money in the bank accounts, players contracts needed sorting, we were at the end of a transfer window, and the future was not looking very positive. We came in & immediately invested in the club. We ensured that players & staff wages were paid, all bills were paid including payments to the Inland Revenue and all suppliers. We immediately spent money buying players and investing in the club - something that had not been done for some time. All debts were taken on by the owners when the club was purchased and guarantees were made to ensure that the debt was serviced and all payments would be made. We have since invested heavily in the club both at player level and in the back room. When the club was originally bought, we made some statements about achieving promotion to the Premier League, and we have fulfilled our commitment to the fans. Last season was a very happy one for the club, as it saw our return to the Premiership after a long absence. In the end, our promotion was thoroughly deserved, as we were clearly the best team in the Championship, and we played entertaining football for all to see. This season sees us back in the pinnacle of English football, the Premier League. But there are still financial commitments that have to be met. Financial commitments that are not of our making, but never the less need paying. The consequences of not making those payments do not bare thinking about. So there has to be some balances made to compensate for those payments; there is only so much money that the Directors are prepared to put into the club. Neil Warnock has our full support, and we are committed to supporting him with the players he needs to ensure our continued survival in the Premiership. But our commitments to buying new players and taking on ever increasing wage commitments must be offset with the release of existing players, and ensuring that the club as an ongoing business is able to function and meet its financial commitments. We have to be realistic about which players we can afford to buy, but we will always ensure that the manager has our full support. This season will see us playing at the highest levels of English Football, and we have increased our match-day prices to reflect this accordingly. However, we must point out that our prices are in line with other London clubs, and we will see new teams and new players coming to Loftus Road this coming season. We are aware that there are some fans who are unhappy with the recent ticket price rises, but to be with the best will cost fans some more money, but we hope that this will be offset with the chance to play in the Premiership with the best and that ultimately fans will think it will be worth it. There have also been rumours of a buy out that will bring new owners to the club. The facts are these; the club is for sale, but it will only be sold at a price which reflects where we are in the league, the investment made by the current owners, and the future revenue streams that are available to the club in its position. Should any potential new owners wish to discuss buying the club from us, then we will be only too pleased to discuss the sale with them. But in the meantime, we look forward to a new season in a new league with new challenges ahead of us. All the staff and players have our good wishes for a successful season, and we hope that all the fans can enjoy seeing Queens Park Rangers play in the Premier League.
Someone's essay... B for English language - paragraphs and spacing. B for creativity - it's the thought that counts E for research - what happened to the facts?
I really do wonder who wrote this ? It's not something your average fan would make up, not without a large helping of sarcasm anyway. Maybe its the new Press Relations bloke/woman that they were advertising for a couple of months ago. Tango & Cash have probably got him/her trawling QPR blogs and reporting back to them to see how much they're loved by the faithful.
Erm.... Yes, thanks for saving our bacon back in the day when we we're ****ed. Erm.... Why don't you pay off our debts (ABC loan?) in one go with the extra TV revenue money? Erm.... So we're expected to pay twice as much to see the same Qpr players play better opponents? Erm.... Didn't the directors put the players now deemed surplus to requirements on massive contracts? Erm.... Where is our new kit/kit sponsor? Erm.... Why did we invest over the last 4 years but only now deem it unsustainable? Erm.... Can you please f-off and leave Qpr alone now? Thanks in advance
Its a fair article to be honest. Could it be that Flavio or Bernie really wrote this? Sounds similar to the article released on the offish today so its possible.
I am a newbie on here but an R's fan since 1982 - just thought I would log in and say hi ... i dont really want a pic of Olly though thanks! I live in Plymouth and to be honest I am just glad to have a club when I compare our situation to theirs. It would be interesting if we had the internet when Jim Gregory was in charge as he did so much for the club (except at the end!!) but made plenty of unpopular decisions Anyway cheers for now - always great reading on here and well done to Northolt-QPR
I know someone whose Dad is friends with the Plymouth owner. It does sound pretty desperate down there. Anyway, do more than say hi, pull up a chair, have a cup of tea and join in.
thanks for the welcome guys!! The other thing that I have been wondering lately is when we will be getting those players from Real Madrid as part of our technical partnership that we agreed when Flav & Bernie took over?!
