At my place of work today they had a morning tea with it being International Women day, with the them of the morning tea being equality, diversity and inclusiveness for women in the workplace. Which was very good apart from one thing.... It was for women only !!!!!
Did you also know that this is British National Pie week, Thursday is 'get over it day', Friday is 'middle name pride day' and Saturday is 'submarine day' ? all these national and international this that and the other days and weeks make me smile (just a bit)
I don't think the message has quite got through to some. (Sorry for the sort of political element. I just found it funny) Polish MEP thinks women should be paid less because they are 'smaller, weaker and less intelligent' http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...ues-polish-mep-thinks-women-should-paid-less/
In honour of International Women's day I will be adopting the practice of women in my workplace. This means I will be ditching the shirt and tie in favour of wearing whatever I choose. I will also be using the nice, clean toilet with hand dryer a short walk from my desk rather than going outside and walking to another unit to use a dirty dingy toilet.
OT but the tie is a valid point... all this kerfuffle in the media and even discussed in the Commons about women who are forced to wear high heels for work and we never hear a word about men being forced to wear collared shirts and ties in boiling hot summer conditions while women dress as if they're off for a day at the beach. I once got severely reprimanded at work for taking off my tie for 10 mins when hot, when in a team of 10, 60% of them never wore a tie once in their entire career at said workplace. In retrospect I really wish I'd made a song and dance about this, I'm no HR expert but I reckon there's a pay-out there.
In the spirit of things I have told my wife to leave the vacuuming until tomorrow and tonight she can choose what to cook for my tea. Equality - where will it all end?
As I posted that last reply, they were talking about women's day on the news. They said the next person to land on the moon would probably be a woman, which surprised me, because I didn't know it needed cleaning.
My missus has just stated that she expects a present for IWD, cos Wiki states this is the tradition. Is this a piss take or what?
