If you were Steve Bruce and AA told you to get a striker from europe, who in your opinion would be a viable option? At the minute for me the ones that stand out are as follows Finnbogason from SC Heereveen (19 goals in 21 appearances) Adrian Ramos from Hertha Berlin (11 goals in 19 appearances) Ivan Santini from KV Kortrijk (13 goals in 22 appearances)
Mario Mandzukic Bayern are bringing in Lewandowski which will put him down the pecking order, and we have his striker partner at national level Jelavic here already. Watch this space.
If we were in the relegation zone or I thought we would end up being relegated I would say Aron Jóhannsson from AZ.
Finnbogason for me. Getting rave reviews in Holland and has a really decent goal scoring record. Also if I remember correctly I read an interview in the summer where Van Basten (Finnbogason's manager) said the club has put a 7 million euro price tag on him. thats about £5.5 million?
Funnily enough, didn't Bruce previously state he might have to look to the European market as you don't get value for money buying from England in January?
Can't recall what happened with our interest but Djordjevic scored 2 for Nantes tonight. Weren't we linked quite heavily with him?
Philipp Zulechner at SV Grodig (Austrian Bundesliga) has 15 in 20 this season, plus he's only 23 so there's resale value if he comes good. I think Finbogasson would be amazing, but by the time we get round to noticing him he'll be attracting bigger clubs than us, if he isn't already. I've always been a fan of Burak Yilmaz at Galatasaray, but he'd cost far too much for us to afford, given what we just spent on Jelavic. His goalscoring record speaks for itself though.
